Yin Qi exclusively exercises its administration, which is solemn and肃杀 (killing/cold). Taiyang Cold Water is below, with Jueyin on the left and Yangming (Text says "Shi Yangming", likely a variant or error for Yangming) on the right; thus, Heavenly Qi descends. Yang Qi retreats, and its commands are silent. Strong winds rise frequently, the plains become dim and damp, white dust rises everywhere, clouds rush toward the South Pole, and cold rain arrives frequently. The completion of things varies. Summer combines wetness and cold virtue, yellow-black dust dims the air, Qi circulates in the intersection of Heaven and Earth, corresponding to the Zhenxing (Saturn). The corresponding grains are Xuan (black). The naming of grains follows the Da Jiao (Wood movement) rule. Excess years suit high places, insufficient years suit low places; excess years have late onset, insufficient years have early onset; excess conditions may be treated with emesis, which is the method of promoting Qi transformation. People's diseases follow this pattern.
The diseases of the year include cold-heat disorders, abdominal fullness, heaviness of the body, restlessness, swelling of the elbows. Pathogenic reversal leads to cold jue (cold extremities), stiffness, and tendon tension. In this year, Wet Earth is above and Cold Water is below; Earth can control Water. Heavenly Qi is abundant, Earthly Qi is deficient. One should source the transformation to level Earth Qi and supplement the Year Qi. Do not eat yellow grains contaminated by pathogens; instead, eat grains associated with the interstitial Qi to preserve essence.
For the Year Qi, bitter flavors are suitable to dry dampness, or light flavors to drain dampness. For severe cases, strict methods or purgation are used. If neither sweating nor purging is applied, dampness will overflow externally and soak internally, causing skin rupture and mixing of water and blood. One must assist Yang Fire to resist the cold movement. Cases differing from cold-damp-dry-heat are rare; therefore, medicines and food should accord with their Qi transformation. [First Qi] From the start of Si hour on the Day of Great Cold in the Renzi year to the start of Mao hour on the Spring Equinox day of this year, totaling 60 days and 87.5 ke. The main position is Fire, Jue Yin corresponds to Water-Fire operation, Wind does not occupy its position. Earthly Qi migrates, Cold departs, the true wind of Spring arrives, life spreads, and all things flourish. People's Qi becomes smooth and comfortable. If suffering from wind-damp, blood溢 (overflowing), stiff meridians, difficult joints, heavy body, and flaccid tendons, it is appropriate to regulate the guest pathogen of Jueyin. Supplement with pungent flavors (Lizhong Tang, Sini Tang), drain with sour flavors (Da Chaihu Tang, etc.), and ease with sweet flavors (Guiling Ganlu Yin, Zhuye Shigao Tang, etc.). Year grains should be black, interstitial grains should be rice.

[Second Qi] From the exact Mao hour on the Spring Equinox to the exact Chou hour on the Grain Fullness day, totaling over 60 days. The main position is Shaoyang (Text says "Shaowei"), the guest qi is Shaoyang Fire occupying the central position, governing the Qi transformation below, known as scorching Fire. Fire is dominant, things receive its transformation, people are harmonious. If dampness prevails, supplement with salty flavors (Wuling San), drain with sweet flavors (Baihu Tang, Yiyuan San, etc.), and astringe with sour flavors (Jianzhong Tang, etc.). Year grains should be black, interstitial grains should be beans, so that heat Qi cannot cause harm.

[Third Qi] From the start of Yin hour on the Grain Fullness day to the start of Zi hour on the Great Heat day, totaling over 60 days. The main Qi is Shaoyang Fire, the guest Qi is also Fire, ending in the middle, Earth sees Fire movement, Year Fire occupies its position. Dampness is depressed, Heavenly governance brings down dampness, Earthly Qi rises and fills with rain. At this time, cold follows. Contracting cold-damp causes people to suffer from heavy bodies, swelling of elbows, chest, and abdomen. It is appropriate to treat the guest pathogen of Taiyin. Supplement with sweet flavors (Sijunzi Tang, Guizhi Ganlu Yin, etc.), drain with bitter flavors (Da Chaihu Tang, Da-Xiao Chengqi Tang, etc.), and ease with sweet flavors (Pingwei San, etc.). Year grains should be black, interstitial grains should be hemp, so that dampness cannot cause harm.

[Fourth Qi] From the exact Zi hour on the Great Heat day to the exact Xu hour on the Autumn Equinox day, totaling over 60 days. The main position is Da Gong Earth, the guest Qi is Shaoyang Fire, middle manifestation is Fire movement, Qi and movement share the same position. Fire approaches humid steaming, transforming Earthly Qi, Heavenly Qi rises, obstructing the guest Qi, evening heat steams, fighting each other, grass and trees condense smoke, dampness flows downward, white dew spreads yin, completing the Autumn command. People suffer from hot pores, sudden blood overflow, malaria, heart and abdominal fullness, false heat bloating, and severe elbow swelling. It is appropriate to treat the guest pathogen of Shaoyang. Supplement with salty flavors (Wuling San, etc.). Year grains should be black, interstitial grains should be Xuan (likely a specific grain or general term), so that Fire Qi cannot cause harm. In this Qi, do not violate the heat of the governing Qi.

[Fifth Qi] From the start of Hai hour on the Autumn Equinox to the start of You hour on the Light Snow day, totaling over 60 days. The main position is Shao Shang Metal, the guest Qi is Yangming Metal, Metal sees Fire movement within, Qi and movement are consistent. Dryness command has followed, cold dew descends, frost falls early, grass and trees turn yellow and fall, cold wind touches the body. Gentlemen should be meticulous. People suffer from skin and pore issues. Regulate the guest pathogen of Yangming. Supplement with sour flavors (Pingwei San, Jianzhong Tang, etc.), drain with pungent flavors (Mahuang Tang, Chuanxiong Shigao Tang, etc.), and drain with bitter flavors (Shenxiong Wan, Jiegeng Zhishi Tang, etc.). Year grains should be black, interstitial grains should be millet and sorghum, so that dryness Qi cannot cause harm.

[Final Qi] From the exact You hour on the Light Snow day to the start of Wei hour on the Great Cold day, totaling over 60 days. The main position is Da Yu Water, the guest Qi is Taiyang Water, Water sees Fire movement within. Water occupies its position and can overcome Fire. Cold and Fire rise together, damp-fire transforms into accumulated frost, Yin condenses into ice, sunlight fails to function. Contracting cold causes joint pain, waist and leg pain. Cold-damp persists in the Qi intersection causing disease. It is appropriate to regulate the guest pathogen of Taiyang. Supplement with bitter flavors (Huanglian Jiedu Tang, etc.), firm with bitter flavors (Da-Xiao Chaihu Tang, Da-Xiao Chengqi Tang, etc.), drain with salty flavors (Liangge San, Tongsheng San, etc.), and moisten with pungent flavors (Xiao Qinglong Tang, Wuji San, etc.). Year grains should be black, interstitial grains should be Ji (millet), so that cold Qi cannot cause harm.

These six Qi segments' transformations: when Heavenly Qi is excessive, it results in the counter-reaction of Jueyin; when Earthly Qi is excessive, it results in the counter-reaction of Taiyin. Treat each according to its method.
