My family child suffered diarrhea for over 100 days, emaciated to skin and bones, unresponsive to myriad methods. Official Zhongli Jun saw him and asked, "Why not take Wupo San? It will cure immediately." I obtained the formula, prepared it, gave 2-3 doses, and it worked. My grandson also had severe Gan diarrhea; two doses stabilized him. For deep-seated illness, recovery within 1-2 days. This medicine is effective for Gan diarrhea; its nature is slightly warm, so it may not suit sudden hot diarrhea.
Danxi treated a wealthy boy, 14 years old, yellow face, voracious appetite, craves meat, diarrhea for one month. Pulse large in both hands. Surprisingly not weak/tired. Initially suspected damp-heat spleen stagnation with poor appetite, but he was robust, ate much, and was not thirsty. I suspected Gan worms causing dysentery. Examined stool: confirmed Ascaris. While away, a pediatrician advised using vermifuges and forbidding accumulation-resolving drugs, promising to check pulse upon return to stop diarrhea. Accidentally did not follow through. Next spring/summer, diarrhea recurred, no abdominal pain but dry mouth. I said, "This is due to treating worms last year but not Gan." Prescribed Gan-heat-clearing medicines, taken with concentrated Atractylodes decoction. Diarrhea stopped in 3 days. Half a month later, visited his home, saw him very thin. Advised: Atractylodes as Sovereign, Paeonia as Minister, plus Ligusticum, Citrus Peel, Coptis, Picrorhiza, and small amount of Aloe, formed into pills, taken with Atractylodes decoction. Stopped in half a month. Forbidden meat consumption; self-healing in 3 years.
