[Tang's Discussion] Chong She (Double Tongue) refers to a growth arising beneath the tongue near the root, shaped like the tongue but smaller, hence named "Chong She". Those presenting in this manner on the sublingual area are called Chong She; those appearing similarly in the buccal mucosa and upper palate are called Zhong Yin (Double Gingiva); those appearing similarly on the gingiva are also called Zhong Yin. For all these conditions, pricking them to induce bleeding is acceptable. The treatment method involves soaking Phyllostachys nigra bamboo sap with Powder of Phellodendri Cortex (Huangbai), and applying it to the surface of the tongue. If there is no improvement, subsequently apply genuine Powder of Puerariae Flos (Puhuang). It will heal within no more than three applications. (Specifically: lightly stir-fry genuine Puhuang, spread it on paper to dissipate the fire heat, grind into fine powder, take a small amount each time to sprinkle under the tongue, then dip a cloth in warm water, wrap it around the finger, press gently, and after pressing, sprinkle the medicine.) Alternatively, apply Halitum (Natron/Ma Ya Xiao) to the sublingual area, three times daily. First, rinse the mouth and the upper and lower surfaces of the tongue with fresh water. Then, use ash from burned Gleditsia sinensis thorn needles, add a small amount of Borneolum Syntheticum (Naozi), take half a zi (unit of weight) each time, sprinkle on the upper and lower surfaces of the tongue, which will expel saliva and produce immediate effect. (This method is also effective for Mu She/Wooden Tongue.) Burn Sepiae Endoconcha (Cuttlefish Bone) until charred, grind finely, mix with Yolk of Gallus Domesticus Egg (Jidanhuang), and apply to the throat and tongue. Grind ash from tangled hair into fine powder, apply half a qian under the tongue, and use continuously. Boil Radix Morus Albae (Sangbaipi) juice, apply to the nipple, and let the infant suck and drink.
[Zhang's Discussion] Wuyu San (Black Fish Bone Powder) treats pediatric Chong She.
Ingredients: Sepiae Endoconcha (Wuyu Gu) (1 liang), Dung Beetle (Qianglang) (burned to ash), Powder of Puerariae Flos (Puhuang) (each 5 qian), Calcined Alum (Ku Baifan) (2.5 qian).
Preparation and Administration: Grind the above ingredients into an extremely fine powder. Mix with Yolk of Gallus Domesticus Egg. Apply to the sublingual area. Swallowing saliva is harmless.
Qingye San (Green Liquid Powder) treats pediatric Chong She and oral ulcers.
Ingredients: Indigo Naturalis (Qingdai), Mirabilite (Puxiao) (each 1 qian), Borneolum Syntheticum (Longnao) (1 zi).
Preparation and Administration: Grind the above ingredients into a fine powder. Mix with honey. Dip a goose feather brush in the mixture and apply sparingly to the affected area.
Danggui Lianqiao Tang (Angelica Caudata and Forsythia Decoction) treats pediatric Chong She caused by heat in the Heart and Spleen.
Ingredients: Tail of Radix Angelicae Sinensis (Dangguiwei), Fructus Forsythiae (Lianqiao), Rhizoma et Radix Bupleuri (Chuan Baizhi) (each 3 qian), Radix et Rhizoma Rhei (Dahuang) (stir-baked), Radix Glycyrrhizae (Gancao) (each 1 qian).
Preparation and Administration: Cut the above ingredients into small pieces. Decoct in one sheng (unit of volume) of water. Take before meals.
Yinnianjin San (One Pinch of Gold Powder) treats pediatric Chong She and Mu She (Wooden Tongue).
Ingredients: Realgar (Xionghuang) (2 qian), Borax (Pengsha) (1 qian), Borneolum Syntheticum (Naozi) (a little), Radix Glycyrrhizae (Gancao) (0.5 qian).
Preparation and Administration: Grind the above ingredients into a fine powder. Sprinkle dry powder directly onto the tongue, or mix with honey water, apply using a goose feather brush, and swallow.
Lv Pao San (Green Robe Powder) treats Chong She and sores/toxins inside and outside the entire mouth, as well as difficulty in the pharynx and diaphragm.
Ingredients: Leaves of Mentha Haplocalyx (Boheye) (remove old stems), Flower spikes of Schizonepeta (Jingjisui) (these two, each 5 qian), Indigo Naturalis (Qingdai), Treated Mirabilite (Xuanmingfen), Borax (Pengsha) (these three, each 2.5 qian), Fermented Liquor Sediment (Baiyaojian), Radix Glycyrrhizae (Gancao) (these two, each 3 qian).
Preparation and Administration: Cut and bake-dry the ingredients, then grind into powder. Except for Xuanmingfen and Pengsha, first grind the other powders finely in a mortar. Then add Xuanmingfen and Pengsha and grind uniformly together. Use between 1 zi and 0.5 qian, sprinkle dry powder on the tongue to let it dissolve naturally. Alternatively, mix with fresh water and honey, and apply to the tongue.
