The abdomen is hard and hotter than other parts, or there is diarrhea or vomiting, caused by overeating followed immediately by sleep. Master Mao used Niuhuang Wan (Calculus Bovis Pill) to remove the accumulation, followed by treatment with Yunqi San (Harmonizing Qi Powder). Regular use of Wanling Wan (Myriad Spirits Pill) leads to recovery. Qian Yi's Xiaoji Wan (Accumulation-Dissolving Pill) and Zhenzhu Wan (Pearl Pill). (Prescriptions see previous text)
Kuaige Xiaoshi Wan (Diaphragm-Quickening Digestion-Promoting Pill)
Amomi Fructus (Sharen), Purified Tangerine Peel (Jing Chenpi), Bistort Rhizome (Sanleng), Curcuma Rhizome (Ezhu), Medicated Leaven (Shenqu), Wheat (each half tael), Purified Cyperus Rhizome (Jing Xiangfu, separately stir-fried one tael).
Pulverized, made into pills the size of hemp seeds with paste. Taken after meals with plain warm water. Depending on the severity, laxative drugs for removing accumulation may be used subsequently. In another prescription, processed Bitter Orange Fruit (Zhi Zhike) is added.
The symptoms include a yellowish-white complexion, loss of appetite, abdominal pain, writhing and crying, and loose stools resembling crab roe. This is due to disharmony between Ying (Nutrient) and Wei (Defensive) qi, and conflict between Yin and Yang energies, developing over time. Master Mao used Wanling Wan (Myriad Spirits Pill), Yunqi San (Harmonizing Qi Powder), Xingpi San (Spleen-Awakening Powder), and Jianpi San (Spleen-Strengthening Powder) alternately for regulation.
*Milu* treats pediatric Qi Pi (Qi Mass) by extracting juice from Bistort Rhizome (Sanleng) to make soup or porridge, mixed with rice flour, given to the nursing mother. A date-pit-sized amount can also be given directly to the infant daily, cooked as hot porridge or soup. It is effective for children under ten years old and newborns within one hundred days, regardless of epilepsy, heat, Wugu (Innocent) malnutrition, or Pi masses; its efficacy is indescribable.
The face is yellow like earth color, or appears puffy and deficient, with slight pain above the umbilicus, heat in the belly skin, reduced food intake, and complaints of pain above the umbilicus and in the abdomen immediately after eating. The food is not digested, and the head has slight heat. This is caused by consuming hard or cold foods first, injuring the Spleen. Treatment should first use Qingjin Wan (Blue Gold Pill) (see previous) to purge the accumulation in the Spleen, followed by regulation with Yunqi San (Harmonizing Qi Powder) and Xingpi San (Spleen-Awakening Powder). Regular use of Jianpi San (Spleen-Strengthening Powder) and Wanling Wan (Myriad Spirits Pill) leads to recovery.
[Master Zeng] Sometimes there is frequent passage of clear water resembling raw rice juice, indicating injury compounded by accumulation. There is irritability and whimpering, often accompanied by anger. This is named Jing Ji (Startle Accumulation). First resolve the Startle, then regulate the Accumulation. To resolve Startle, use Wuling San (Five Ling Powder) or Baijie San (Hundred Releases Powder). To regulate Accumulation, use Sanleng San (Bistort Powder) or Wuxi Wan (Black Rhinoceros Horn Pill) and Sanjie San (Three Resolutions Powder). Stir-fried Medicated Leaven (Shenqu) and Ginger are decocted in water to mix with Xingpi San (Spleen-Awakening Powder) and Chenxiang Binglang Wan (Aucklandia and Betel Nut Pill). This calms Startle, resolves Accumulation, strengthens Qi, harmonizes the Stomach, and requires restriction of cold breast milk for natural healing.
[Master Zhuang] Zijin Wan (Purple Gold Pill) treats adults and children who have accumulated sticky, slippery toxic substances in the Spleen and Stomach due to Startle, which could not be removed by repeated medication, resulting in deficiency-type accumulation. For adults experiencing vomiting after eating, abdominal distension and fullness, night sweats, and progressive emaciation, take seven pills with Ginger and Jujube Decoction. For women’s blood and Qi disorders, take five to seven pills with Rice Drink. For pediatric Startle Accumulation with body heat, heaviness, and inability to open eyes, dissolve a measure of "one character" (approx. 0.5g) of Nifen (Calomel) with Coptis Rhizome (Huanglian), Licorice Root (Gancao), Peach Kernel (Taoren), and Mint in decoction. For ages one to three, take three pills; for infants, only one or two pills.
Scorpion Tail (3-7 pieces), Powdered Rhinoceros Horn, Silver Powder, Cinnabar (each one qian).
Grind all into extremely fine powder, make into pills the size of mung beans using water and wheat paste. Administer according to the aforementioned decoctions.
[Master Zhuang] Ruanjin Wan (Soft Gold Pill) treats Jing Gan (Startle Malnutrition) and removes accumulations.
Indigo Naturalis (Qingdai), Calomel (Nifen), Picrorhiza Rhizome (Huhuanglian), Musk (each two qian half), Cold Food Noodle (Hanshimian, three qian), Quisqualis Seed (Shijunzi, three pieces), Tianshangzi (3-7 pieces).
Grind these seven ingredients evenly, make into pills the size of paulownia seeds using drops of water. Take one pill per dose, dissolved in Gold-Silver Mint Decoction.
[Master Liu] Taohong San (Peach Red Powder) treats pediatric Startle Accumulation and Gan Accumulation. Regular use promotes appetite and gives the face a peach-blossom color.
Mirabilite (Mayaxiao), Cinnabar, Poria (Fuling), Ginseng Root (Renshen) (equal parts).
Pulverize. Two sui (years old) take two zhou (measure), one sui takes one zhou, three sui takes two zhou, four to five sui takes three zhou. Mix with fresh well water and a little honey, then administer. Honey water should fill about one-third of the cup.
Master Tang stated: Jing Pi (Startle Mass) must be treated with Mengshi (Lodestone) medicines.
