[Dai Ren]: A fifteen-year-old girl suffered from damp tinea between her thighs, extending three to four inches down to her knees. When itching occurred, scratching and hot water application provided no relief; after the itching subsided, yellow-red fluid flowed out, accompanied by unbearable pain. Moxibustion, fumigation, and washing treatments using drugs such as Sulfur (Liuhuang), Rucao, Bombyx Batryticatus (Baijiangcan), and Radix Aconiti Lateralis Preparata (Yangti Gen) were all ineffective. Her parents sought treatment from Dai Ren. Dai Ren said, "If you follow my advice, the disease will be cured." The parents agreed. Dai Ren sharpened needles and, when the patient felt itching, pricked over a hundred times on the tinea area until blood was fully discharged, then washed with saline solution. This was repeated four times, and the major illness was finally eliminated. This method is not fully disclosed to later generations for fear that it might be misled by tinea remedies; when dampness invades the blood, phlebotomy (biān) therapy should not be neglected.
[Moxibustion Method]: At noon, moxa moxibustion (three cones) is applied to the shadow of the diseased area. The incantation states: "Worms in the tinea, hairy and coarse. If you wish to cure, wait for noon."
Another method: On the eighth day of the eighth lunar month at sunrise, have the patient kneel long facing east inside the house, raise both hands flat, hold the sides of the chest, locate the depression between the bones at the tip of the shoulder (Jianjing area), and apply moxibustion. Apply heat to both points simultaneously, three or seven moxa cones each, and recovery occurs within ten days.
