Huichuang Chansu Dingzi (Return Carbuncle Toad Venom Pellet)
Treats Ding Chuang (Carbuncle) where toxic qi attacks the heart leading to near-death state. Pierce the path of toxin spread from the wound towards the heart. Wherever pain is felt and blood flows, place the pellet. If piercing repeatedly near the heart side yields no pain and no blood, urgently pierce the Baihui acupoint (*GV20*). If pain and blood are present there, place the pellet. If no blood flows, substitute with the warm blood of a relative; there is still a 30-40% chance of survival. Especially if the carbuncle is in its early stages, it is invariably effective. Generally, Ding Chuang (Carbuncles) occur on the four limbs, chest, back, head, neck, and joints. The chest, back, head, and neck are the most critical. Initially, pain and itching are irregular, the center sinks like a nail, has roots when shaken, accompanied by high fever and nausea.

Grind into extremely fine powder. Mix with fresh Chan Su (*Raniformis Venenum*) to form pellets the size of millet seeds. Upon encountering a Ding Chuang (Carbuncle), first pierce the wound. If there is no pain but blood flows, place the pellet. If pain is felt, do not use again. If still no pain, pierce along the direction of toxin spread until blood flows and pain is felt. The original wound will also become painful; apply a plaster, and recovery occurs after pus discharges. Method for using the pellet: Prepare a thin silver tube about three cun long. Insert it with the needle to the painful area, then use a thin silver wire to push the medicine inside the tube to the painful spot.
