Non-toxic. Mainly treats palpitations, epilepsy, and evil spirits; calms the mind (Shen), stabilizes the soul (Po), and strengthens willpower. It enables one to enter officialdom without fear, facilitates meeting with high officials, and is suitable for marriage and market transactions. The five-colored soil sealed by kings also belongs to this category (of secondary grade). The above-mentioned indications are correct; taken with water, the remaining uses are all considered treasures.
Local magistrates upon taking office apply this soil to their doors themselves to prevent thieves from entering the territory; today, all commanderies and counties have She Altars (shrines dedicated to the Earth God) following this practice.
Mainly treats the astringency of poisons from all things. For those suffering from back carbuncles (Fa Bei), dig a hole in the ground with one side open to allow airflow; match the size of the hole to the swelling area. Lie supine on the hole so that the abscess enters the hole and is sucked out. Make three or five such holes; replace them when they feel hot, and cushion other parts of the body with materials. Additionally, for sudden acute jaundice (Ji Huang) with extreme heat and impending death, dig a pit in sandy soil, bury the patient obliquely with the head exposed above ground, administer irrigation (or medicine/water), and remove after a long time. This has been tested effective, likely because the earth can absorb and retain heat. Furthermore, for those suffering from swelling due to Dan Shi (mineral drug toxicity), lie on wet ground to warm the swollen area using geothermal heat, replacing it when cooled.
Non-toxic. Mainly treats easy childbirth in women; pregnant women should carry this soil near the end of pregnancy. At the time of delivery, take one qian bi (a small measuring spoon) of powder and take it with wine. It can also be formed into pills; infants hold them in bitter gourds, called "White Dragon Beggar." This method comes from Cui Zhi Ti's formula; the text is too long to record here.
Mainly treats vitiligo (Bai Dian Feng) and ulcers. Extract juice by heavy soaking, mix with vinegar. First wipe the vitiligo area with cloth until broken, then apply the mixture; do not be surprised if it forms a wound. It can soften glass and jade stones like mud, making them easy to carve, and can also whiten laundry. Washing severe sores, scabies, and tinea is more effective than various plant ashes. Grows in the sea, resembling yellow loess. Nan Zhong Yi Wu Zhi (Records of Strange Things in the South) states: Natural ash grows on the shores of the South Sea, usable for washing clothes; stones rot when exposed to this ash and can be made into vessels. Currently, agate and other gems with different shapes and textures are first buried in this ash to soften them before carving.
Non-toxic. Mainly treats sudden heart pain, Zhu Wu (infectious diseases with wandering qi), and evil qi. Place in wine and take warm; this is better.
Non-toxic. Mainly treats postpartum abdominal pain; take one qian bi of powder, heated in wine. "Hu" is an alias for door. New annotation says: Mix with male sparrow feces, take one cun bi (square inch measure) with warm wine. Effective for treating Chu Nai (acute mastitis).
