Sweet in taste, warm in nature, non-toxic. It primarily treats cold and heat mixed in the middle jiao (middle burner), emaciation with lack of luster in complexion, accumulations and masses, abdominal distension and fullness, indigestion, dry and rough skin, frequent and urgent urination, pi masses (abdominal masses), borborygmus in the abdomen, diarrhea, cold pain in the waist and legs, impotence in men, sterility in women, and irregular qi and blood. After consumption, it makes one robust and increases appetite. It is used to treat metal wounds (injuries caused by metal weapons). Its nature is cloying/stagnant, suitable for people who are thin. It grows in the stone caves of Gaishan, Linhai. Locals collect it, clarify and wash it until it resembles mud, form it into pills the size of a bullet, which can be white or yellow, with yellow being superior.
Non-toxic. It primarily treats loss of heart-mind due to great fright, mental confusion and inability to recognize people, as well as lin syndrome (dysuria with dribbling and pain). It is taken after grinding, or it can be boiled and taken. This substance is often found where lightning has struck; digging three chi underground yields it. Its shape varies; some say it is man-made and offered to the Heavenly Bureau (Tian Cao), but this is unknown. What is obtained now resembles an axe blade, a file blade, or has two holes. It is likely made from common stones. It is noted to come from Leizhou and between rivers and lakes in Hedong. After thunderstorms, they often resemble axes, are dark green-black in color, have mottled patterns, and are extremely hard like jade. Used as pillows, they dispel nightmares and ward off misfortune. It is named Pili Xie (Lightning Fragment).
It prevents disasters and anomalies. The House Classics suggest using large stones to suppress the four corners of a residence. *Jingchu Suishi Ji* records: On the last day of the twelfth month, dig the four corners of the house and bury a large stone at each corner to suppress the house. Also, *Hongbao Wanbi Shu* states: Bury pill-stones at the four corners of the house and strike seven peach pits, then ghosts cannot cause harm.
Sweet in taste, non-toxic. It primarily treats chronic emaciation, inability to eat, and lack of luster in complexion. It tonifies cold in the waist and legs, makes one robust, and benefits yang qi. If sudden high fever causes hair loss, it should be consumed after fei lian (a traditional alchemical refining process). It grows at Qingliang Temple on Wutai Mountain. The gold dust within the stone appears reddish-brown.
Sweet in taste, neutral in nature, non-toxic. Jade stones primarily promote longevity and immortality. Daoist practitioners take toad ointment to soften jade into mud, dissolve it with vinegar to form water; this is the method for making jade paste. Currently, water seeping from between jade stones, when drunk, promotes longevity and keeps the body moist. When jade is thrown into the juice of Zhu Cao (Vermilion Grass), it transforms into sweet wine. Zhu Cao is an auspicious plant, already mentioned in the *Jinshui Juan*. *Shizhou Xianji* records that Yingzhou has a spring of jade paste like wine; drinking a few cups induces drunkenness and promotes longevity. There are many immortals on the island resembling Wu children. Although these are matters of fairy realms, there are credible aspects, so they are cited as evidence.
