Primarily treats moon eclipse sores and ear conditions related to lunar phases. Burn to ash, mix with oil and apply. "Zhang" refers to the wood struck during a lunar eclipse to save the moon. People also crush moon laurel seeds and apply them behind the ears for eclipse-related ear sores. Now in Jiangdong regions, after the fourth and fifth months, on dark days, such fruits are often found on roadsides, sized like lynx beans, pungent and fragrant when broken. Ancient tradition holds they fall from the moon. Mountain laurel can still be used medicinally, let alone moon laurel? It is simply that people do not truly recognize its efficacy. Now found everywhere in Jiangdong. Why is it unique in lacking presence in the north? Is it because it is not on the "moon path"? It is due to lunar influence. A monk from Lingyin Temple in Yuhang said: he planted one; modern poets have discussed it extensively. The *Han Wu Dong Ming Ji* states: there is a distant-flying chicken that goes out in the morning and returns late at night, often carrying laurel seeds back to the southern lands; therefore, it is absent in the north but present in the south, where it is called the "moon path."
