Gou Gen (Gelsemium) Note citing Tao: Gou Gen might be Mao Die (Ranunculus). Su Song stated: Mao Die is Shi Long Rui (Ranunculus ternatus var. ternatus) with hairs. "Bai Yi Fang" stated: Among vegetables there is Shui Niang, leaves are round and shiny, toxic. Grows by water, crabs often eat it. Su Song added note: Another resembles Shui Niang, hairless; its Mao Die resembles Long Rui but is toxic.
Gou Gen (Gelsemium) Note citing Tao: There is an item named Yin Ming, red in color, attaches to trees, hanging its fruit. Grows in the sea, toxic. Also said: Hai Jiang (Sea Ginger), grows in the sea, red, shape like Long Rui, also highly toxic, should be this one, currently no one can accurately identify it.
Di Jiang (Earth Slurry) Note citing Tao: Mountains have many toxic fungi; Di Jiang (earth slurry/soil water) detoxifies them. Those growing on ground are called Jun (fungi); those growing on wood are called Gan. People in Jiangdong call them Xun (mushrooms). "Erya" stated: Zhong Kui is Jun. Note says: It is the spore/substance of earth mushrooms. Some call it Di Ji (Earth Chicken), also Zhang Tou (Deer Head). Those glowing at night are toxic; those not fully cooked are toxic; those that cast no shadow when illuminated after cooking are toxic; those where harmful insects/birds passed underneath are toxic; those rotting without worms are toxic; those non-toxic in winter/spring but toxic in summer/autumn are so because snakes passed over them.
