Feizi (Phytocarya seed): Taste is astringent and sweet, nature is neutral, non-toxic. Mainly treats gu poison, wuzhi (five types of hemorrhoids), houbi (sore throat with swelling and obstruction), pediatric rectal prolapse, and bloody dysentery; all should be burned to ash and taken orally. For treating blood in stool, it is advisable to take one seed: scoop out the inner pulp with a knife, stir-fry, and grind into powder. Take two qian mixed with hot wine on an empty stomach; efficacy is guaranteed within three doses. It is also suitable for addition to bath soap, effectively removing dirt. Its shell can be used to store alchemical pills; records indicate they remain undamaged over time. According to "Guangzhou Ji": Grows in the forests of southern Guangzhou; the tree resembles the vine of Tongscao (Thlaspi Arvense). It takes three years to mature, turning purple-black. Also known as Xiangdou. (Currently attached)
Min Yuxi et al. respectfully note Rihua Zi's statement: Treats feishi (a sudden acute condition); when used in medicine, it should be roasted before use.
The detailed illustrations are under the entry for Nanteng.
Yanyi says: Feizi is purple-black, slightly glossy, one to two cun in diameter, round and flat. It is effective in treating wuzhi. Burned into black ash, retaining some medicinal properties, it is taken mixed with rice water. People often remove the flesh and make it into a medicine gourd, hanging it at their waist.
Feishi (Phytocarya fruit): Taste is sweet, non-toxic. Mainly treats wuzhi, eliminates sancho gu poison and guizhu (a chronic wasting disease). Produced in Yongchang.
Tao Hongjing states: Currently, people in various counties of Shandong Yang eat its seeds to treat cunbai chong (tapeworm). Tang Ben Zhu states: This object belongs to the insect category's Bizi. "Erya" states: Fei is a fir tree. The tree has a trunk circumference of one embrace and is several ren high. Leaves resemble fir; wood resembles cypress, with pine-like grain, fine and soft texture, suitable for making utensils. Current notes suggest Bizi is quite different from this; since its use is unknown, it is relegated to the category of "named but useless." Min Yuxi et al. respectfully note Meng Shen's statement: Nature is neutral. Consuming one or two sheng is beneficial. It does not cause illness, promotes appetite and digestion of grains, strengthens sinews and bones, circulates ying and wei, brightens eyes, and lightens the body.
Shiliao states it treats cunbai chong: Eat seven seeds daily for seven days; the worms will turn into water.
Waitai Miyao treats white worms: One hundred Feizi seeds, peeled, eaten raw; eating them all is best. Otherwise, fifty seeds are also acceptable. After one night, the worms are eliminated and expelled.
Yanyi states: Feishi is as large as an olive; the shell is purple-brown and brittle. Inside, the seed has a coarse black skin; the kernel is yellowish-white, becoming gradually sweet after prolonged chewing. Patients with wuzhi who consume it like fruit will recover. Excessive consumption causes loose bowels.
