娠妊数月,胎热冲肺金,常有咳嗽者,宜用泻白散加黄芩、苏梗、川贝主之。如感风热,再加荆芥、桔梗、

During several months of pregnancy, due to fetal heat rushing up to invade the Lung Metal (Lung system), coughing is common. In such cases, Xiebai San (White-Draining Powder) added with Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix), Sugeng (Perillae Caulis), and Chuanbei (Fritillariae Bulbus) should be used as the main treatment. If Wind-Heat pathogen is contracted, add Jingjie (Schizonepetae Herba), Jiegeng (Platycodonis Radix), and Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix). Do not allow coughing to damage the Lung Qi, leading to postpartum consumptive disease (Chan Lao). Furthermore, warm and dispersing herbs such as Qianghuo (Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix), Mahuang (Ephedrae Herba), and Guizhi (Cinnamomi Ramulus) must not be used, as they will further damage the Lung and assist Fire. This may cause fetal heat to press upwards, making it untreatable. If the aforementioned medicines are ineffective, Liuwei Dihuang Tang (Six-Ingredient Rehmannia Pill/Decoction) can be taken; this is the most stable method.
Since Wind-Heat has already been contracted, stating that Liuwei Dihuang Tang can be taken implies that the external pathogen is trapped by the cloying nature of the medicine, unable to exit, thereby laying the foundation for future consumptive diseases. Alas, how lamentable! (Commentary by Xu)

The sound heard inside the pregnant woman's abdomen is the fetus crying within the womb. This occurs because there is a knot in the Baozhong (uterine cavity/womb), which the fetus often holds in its mouth to suck blood. Occasionally, when the pregnant woman climbs high or picks up objects, this knot slips out of the fetus's mouth, causing it to cry. Urgently instruct the pregnant woman to bend her waist and stay close to the ground for a moment, mimicking the posture of picking up an object; the crying will then cease. Alternatively, administer Siwu Tang (Four-Substance Decoction) added with Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma) and Fushen (Poria with Hostwood), for two doses, to stabilize the fetal Qi. However, this phenomenon typically occurs only during the sixth or seventh month of pregnancy.
When a pregnant woman suddenly loses her voice at eight or nine months of gestation, it is called "Zi Yin" (Pregnancy Aphonia). There is no need to panic; dietary nourishment and regulation suffice, and medication is generally unnecessary. This is because the Bao Tuo (fetal membrane/support) is connected to the Kidney, and the Kidney meridian passes through the root of the tongue. Speech will naturally return after delivery. If one remains concerned, Siwu Tang (Four-Substance Decoction) added with Fushen (Poria with Hostwood) and Yuanzhi (Polygalae Radix) can be taken. Some women retain their speech naturally; indiscriminate use of miscellaneous drugs may instead cause harm.
The Kidney opens into the two yin passages (urethra and anus) and shares a interior-exterior relationship with the Bladder. Heat causes dribbling urination; severe cases involve mental restlessness and agitation. Zilin San (Zi Lin Powder) is the primary treatment. If Kidney deficiency with heat prevents proper transformation and excretion, Liuwei Tang (Six-Ingredient Decoction) added with Cheqianzi (Plantaginis Semen), or added with Zhimu (Anemarrhenae Rhizoma) and Huangbo (Phellodendri Cortex), can be used. Other options include Anle San (Anle Powder) and Kuizi Tang (Abelmoschus Decoction), which can also be selected.
