Lymphatic Tuberculosis (Shu, caused by insect toxins), arises from unclean diet where worm and maggot toxins transform, invade the fu organs, emerge into the meridians, remain stagnant within the vessels without departing, causing chills and fever in the body.
The root of the disease lies in the Lung. It manifests between the neck and axilla. If the swelling floats within the vessels, has not yet penetrated into the muscles, but externally suppurates into pus and blood, it is easy to cure.
To determine life or death prognosis, observe the eyes: if red vessels are seen penetrating vertically through the pupil, seeing one vessel indicates death in one year; seeing one and a half vessels indicates death in one and a half years; seeing two vessels indicates death in two years; seeing two and a half vessels indicates death in two and a half years; seeing three vessels indicates death in three years. If the red vessels do not penetrate downward through the pupil,
the *Yangsheng Fang* states: In the first lunar month, do not eat leftover food consumed by rats, as this will induce Shu lymphatic tuberculosis manifesting on the neck and nape; or if toxins enter the abdomen, it causes continuous bloody diarrhea; or sores may form in the mouth.
Bee-like Lymphatic Tuberculosis (Feng), arises from dietary labor and fatigue, drinking large amounts of running water when thirsty, thereby acquiring bee toxin which flows into the zang organs. The root lies in the Spleen. It originates at the neck, appearing clearly in three or four places, or clustered in four or five places like honeycombs, or swelling entirely on the chest, ulcerating into sores resembling carbuncles, healing only to recur elsewhere.
Ant-like Lymphatic Tuberculosis (Yi), arises from ingesting the essence of ants in diet, where toxin enters the five zang organs, flows out through the collaterals, mostly attaching to the neck, forming small, dense nodules that may spread throughout the body.
Pishu Lymphatic Tuberculosis (Pifu), arises from ingesting toxins of Pifu (large ants) in diet, entering the zang organs and flowing into the meridians, causing the body to feel cold similar to Cold Damage (Shanghan), with abdominal distension due to deficiency. The root lies in the Lung. It manifests on the neck, resembling scabies or tinea, emerging in clusters. Initially itchy, scratching leaves marks. If untreated, Pifu lymphatic tuberculosis will develop after one hundred days.
Fly Lymphatic Tuberculosis (Ying), arises from accidentally ingesting fly nests (eggs/larvae) in diet, entering the stomach and intestines, flowing into the blood vessels, transforming into Ying lymphatic tuberculosis. It manifests under the neck, initially itchy, clustering like fly nests, causing chills and fever. Over time, flies may be generated within.
Mole Cricket Lymphatic Tuberculosis (Lougu), arises from eating fruits containing insects, swallowing them without avoiding the infested parts, allowing insect qi to enter the abdomen and manifest externally on the neck.
The root lies in the Large Intestine. Initially, the shape resembles wind-induced wheals (Fengshi) or snail shells, presenting as itchy skin eruptions; scratching causes them to swell up to four cun in length. Channels form within, numbering dozens; mole crickets may also appear within, numbering ten or more. If untreated, it leads to death within two years.
