Fleshy growth on the eyelid (Rou Yin Fu) arises from pathogenic heat accumulating in the Zang organs, with Qi rushing upward to the eyes. The heat presses upon the blood vessels, stagnating and accumulating without dispersing, condensing to form fleshy growths located between the sclera (Bai Qing) and the eyelids; this condition is termed "Fleshy growth on the eyelid" (Rou Yin Fu).
Dim vision (Mu An Bu Ming) occurs because the Yin-Yang essence-Qi of the Five Zang and Six Fu organs all ascend to nourish the eyes. If the blood and Qi are sufficient and full, vision will be clear and distinct; if the blood and Qi are deficient and exhausted, Wind pathogen may invade, causing the eyes to appear dim and vision unclear. Regarding treatments involving decoctions, hot compresses, acupuncture, and stone needles, there are separate specific prescriptions. Nourishing regimens and Daoyin exercises are attached below.
The *Yangsheng Fang* (Prescriptions for Nourishing Life) states: Indulgence in pleasure damages the Hun (Ethereal Soul), which connects to the eyes. Damage to the Liver results in dim vision.
The *Daoyin Fa* (Guiding and Pulling Methods) in the *Yangsheng Fang* states: Assume a squatting posture, lift the five toes of both feet using your hands, and bend your head down as far as possible. This allows the Qi of the Five Zang organs to circulate throughout the body. It treats deafness (inability to hear human speech) and blurred vision. Practicing this over a long period can turn white hair black again.
It also states: Lie supine and extend the toes of both feet upward, holding for five breaths, then stop. This guides the treatment of Bi syndrome in the waist and back, hemiplegia, and restores hearing. Long-term practice ensures that the sensory roots of the eyes and ears remain unobstructed.
It also states: Extend the left leg and flex the right knee inward, pressing it, holding for five breaths, then stop. This guides Lung Qi and dispels Wind-Deficiency, clarifying vision. Following these classics to guide the Qi of the Lungs and eliminate Wind-Deficiency diseases makes the eyes bright, allowing one to see colors at night just as clearly as during the day.
It also states: At cockcrow, rub both hands together until warm, then use them to steam/warm the eyes (Xi Mu). Repeat three times. Then press the eyes with fingers; divine light will appear on both sides. This clarifies vision and prevents pain.
It also states: Sit facing East, regulate breathing until the flow is smooth twice. Take saliva with the middle fingers of both hands seven times (two sevens), rub them together, and wipe the eyes. This clarifies vision. Rinse the mouth with sweet spring water and wash the eyes to remove nebulae and dirt, making the eyes clear. Internally, by absorbing Qi to cleanse the body, the internal essence becomes pure; externally, washing removes dust and obstacles.
It also states: While lying down, perform guiding movements three times, and massage the pulse points on the side of the neck with fingernails five times. This clarifies vision. Lie flat on your back, extend the head backward for three guiding movements, and massage the major pulses on the side of the neck with the fingernails of both hands five times. This eliminates ailments of dim vision. Long-term practice enables seeing colors at night. Persisting without cessation allows one to perceive all directions without limit.
