The human body is connected to the Five Zang organs, and knowledge of the physical forms relates to the Zang-Fu organs. Upon injury, assess the Six Pulses (Six positions on the radial artery used for diagnosis) to determine deficiency or excess, recognize life-threatening conditions, and treatment will be clear and error-free. Therefore, Heart injury presents with a red face, Liver injury with a greenish face, Kidney injury with a black face, Spleen injury with a yellow face, and Lung injury with a pale white face.
If Qi collapses and escapes, symptoms include swelling resembling chicken skin and milk bumps; if the fingernails pierce another's nail edge without pain; if breathing is irregular; if sweating occurs as usual; if there is abdominal pain with vomiting and diarrhea; if the four limbs are tightly contracted; if the mouth opens immediately when medicine is forced in—these are mild cases that can be saved. If the mouth does not open, or if there is irregular shortness of breath, or rattling sounds in the throat, these are incurable cases. By recognizing these, one avoids errors.
In general, the whole body has seventy-two acupoints. The severity of injuries in various areas depends on the seasonal climates of Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter. Medicines should follow the principles of Sovereign, Minister, Assistant, and Courier (Jun-Chen-Zuo-Shi) to support the body. If fresh herbs are available, taking them upon initial injury yields quick results and is convenient. To achieve complete recovery, it is essential to use Sovereign and Minister herbs for internal support and external reinforcement. Identify the specific acupoints, observe the severity of the illness, and distinguish the affected部位 (areas). Whether caused by collision, strain, stepping, spearing, iron tools, sharp objects, or fist strikes, resulting in swelling, broken skin, intact skin, or discoloration (black, red, blue, purple), treat according to the severity and symptoms to ensure recovery.
Furthermore, for men, women, the elderly, and children, injuries from excessive exertion leading to accumulated trauma, or illnesses from improper diet, if left untreated due to ignorance, result in long-term accumulation of stagnant blood invading the sinews and bones. As invigorating blood herbs circulate daily throughout the body, they attach to this stagnant blood. Because the blood is dead/stagnant, it causes heart pain, Qi pain, and abdominal pain. If pain persists without medication, it leads to consumptive injury (Lao Shang). Chronic deficiency syndromes involve undispersed withered blood and indigestion, requiring specialized treatment. For old injuries lasting two to three years or two to three months, treatment must be tailored to the severity. Do not take medicines blindly, as this leads to misdiagnosis and difficult-to-treat conditions, wasting lives and ruining reputations. One must identify the syndrome and match it with appropriate herbs, always assessing the pulse for deficiency or excess. Break stagnation when necessary, support正气 (Vital Qi) when needed, to achieve immediate efficacy. Be extremely cautious! Memorize this well.
Specifically: Xiong Dan (Bear Bile) disperses blood, removes accumulation, reduces swelling, and stops pain; Zhen Zhu (Pearl) removes necrotic blood and promotes tissue regeneration; Niu Huang (Calculus Bovis) calms the spirit, stops pain, and clears the Heart; She Xiang (Musk) guides herbs to the affected area; Xu Duan (Radix Dipsaci) tonifies the Liver, unblocks blood vessels, regulates sinews and bones, stops pain, and promotes tissue regeneration.

Seventy-two acupoints of injury on the whole body. Due to the subtle nature of meridians, minor acupoints are not counted or recorded here. Injuries from falls, beatings, climbing stairs, running horses, wall presses, spear/knife/stone wounds, etc., should be treated according to the severity and the patient's strength (deficiency or robustness). Robust patients can tolerate strong breaking-stasis methods, but the back heart region requires support. Using Liver and Lung herbs can achieve full success. Weak patients should not undergo breaking methods; instead, support Zheng Qi (Vital Qi). With appropriate formulas, there will be no harm.
