Heat Entering the Blood Chamber is a disease specific to women. During menstruation, if suddenly invaded by Wind pathogen, this condition often arises. Its symptoms include alternating chills and fever, resembling malaria but not exactly so, sometimes accompanied by hallucinations and delirious speech; this is the true presentation of Heat Entering the Blood Chamber (a syndrome where heat pathogen invades the uterus and Liver channel). However, there are cases that appear similar but are distinct, which must be differentiated: such cases also present with alternating chills and fever resembling malaria, but without hallucinations, only featuring delirious speech and poor appetite; this is not the true Heat Entering the Blood Chamber. Since the syndromes differ, the treatment methods should also vary slightly. For true Heat Entering the Blood Chamber, treat with modified Xiao Chai Hu Tang (Minor Bupleurum Decoction); after one dose, the fever subsides, after two doses, the body cools, and the illness resolves. For non-true Heat Entering the Blood Chamber, the cause is excessive dryness of Liver Wood, where blood fails to nourish the Liver. Although it is a heat syndrome, the heat has not entered the Blood Chamber. To nourish the Liver, one must strongly tonify Kidney Water; when Kidney Water is sufficient, Liver Wood naturally flourishes, preventing Liver Qi stagnation. Once Liver Qi stagnation is resolved, chills and fever will naturally disappear. Use Liang Gan Jie Re Tang (Cool Liver and Clear Heat Decoction). This formula benefits the Liver more than the Kidneys because the root cause lies in the Liver; thus, it focuses on tonifying the Liver while assisting with tonifying the Kidneys. Through the mutual generation of Mother and Child organs, phlegm and pathogens are eliminated, yet I do not believe chills and fever would remain in the body. One might ask: since this is also a heat syndrome, why not use cooling herbs? It is unknown that excessive use of cold herbs generates internal cold, which causes blood stasis and prevents blood generation; without blood generation, how can the Liver be moistened to resolve stagnation? Moreover, Mu Dan Pi (Moutan Cortex) used in the formula cools blood and generates blood simultaneously, achieving dual effects with one herb, demonstrating profound utility.

The distinction between true and false dysentery is often unrecognized by people and must be clarified for future generations. Generally, white dysentery is usually true, while red dysentery is often false. People mistakenly consider white dysentery as Cold syndrome and red dysentery as Heat syndrome, which is incorrect. How can we identify white dysentery as true and red as false? White dysentery resembling white pus, fish maw jelly, or Polygonatum rhizome represents the true image of Damp-Heat. Treating it with herbs that drain dampness and expel turbidity generally yields accurate results, so no new formula is needed here. However, conditions resembling red dysentery but not being actual dysentery are most confusing. If treated with anti-dysentery purgatives, it will further weaken the deficiency. Symptoms typically involve pure blood without feces; if any turbid matter is present, it resembles pus and is scanty. Or, after prolonged dysentery, if blood is discharged, it resembles putrid pus, appearing dark black and mixed, lacking luster and color. These cannot be treated as dysentery because they resemble dysentery but are not. Treating such conditions as dysentery brings one close to death. I now specially transmit a formula to treat these pseudo-dysentery syndromes with miraculous efficacy, named Ji Sheng Dan (Emergency Life Generation Powder). After one dose, bleeding stops; after two doses, the body feels secure; after four doses, full recovery occurs. For those with prolonged dysentery presenting putrid pus and dark black mixtures, remove Fu Zi (Aconite Lateralis Radix Preparata) from this formula and add 3 qian of Luobo Zi (Raphani Semen), decocted in water. All other ingredients and dosages follow the original prescription. This formula stops bleeding within the context of tonifying Qi and Blood, rather than directly treating dysentery, hence achieving rapid success. This is the method for treating false dysentery, and it is advisable to adhere to it.
