(From *Taiping Huimin Heji Jufang*) This is an excellent prescription for treating cold accumulation diarrhea and dysentery.
Muxiang (Boswelliae Fructus, 2.5 liang), Roudoukou (Myristicae Semen, 20 pieces), Dingxiang (Caryophylli Flos, 1.5 liang), Ganjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Praeparatum, 1 liang processed), Baicaoshuang (Carbonized Bamboo Charcoal Powder, 2 liang finely ground), Xingren (Armeniacae Semen Amarum, 140 grains, skin and tip removed, separately ground to a paste-like consistency), Badou (Crotonis Fructus, 70 grains, heart, skin, and membrane removed, ground to a fatty consistency with oil expressed). Except for the Badou powder, Baicaoshuang, and Xingren, the remaining four herbs are pounded into fine powder, mixed thoroughly, and ground again until smooth. They are then combined and kneaded with high-quality beeswax. First, melt 6 liang of yellow beeswax, filter it through double-layered silk to remove dregs, boil one sheng of good wine in a clay pot for several boils, wait for the wine to cool so the wax floats, retrieve the wax, and weigh it. For compounding in spring and summer, use one liang of refined sesame oil, heat it in a ding until cooked, take four liang of wax, melt them together into liquid, and mix with the herbal powder in the ding while hot. Stir evenly, form pills the size of beans. Take thirty pills per dose, administered on an empty stomach with ginger decoction.
Ganying Wan Formula Song: Roudoukou, Dingxiang, Muxiang; Badou, Xingren, Ganjiang, Baicaoshuang. (Roudoukou dispels cold and resolves food stagnation; Dingxiang and Muxiang warm the Stomach and harmonize the Spleen; Xingren resolves meat stagnation and directs Qi downward; Ganjiang dispels entrenched cold and dissipates glomus; Badou excels at breaking deep-seated cold and opening blockages; for deep and stubborn cold accumulation, no other herb can attack it as effectively; Baicaoshuang harmonizes the middle, warms and disperses, and also resolves stagnation. Collectively, these herbs constitute a method of warming purgation.) Wax pills taken on an empty stomach with ginger decoction. (The rationale for using yellow beeswax is most profound. Generally, for treating accumulation, new conditions should be purged urgently, while chronic conditions require gentle purgation. This formula treats long-standing entrenched cold accumulation, representing a gentle purgative method.) Cold accumulation diarrhea and dysentery: truly a miraculous formula. (Zhao Xianke in *Yi Guan* stated: "This formula's efficacy is beyond words; although it contains Badou, it does not cause diarrhea, and the accumulation naturally dissolves." Li Shizhen in *Bencao Gangmu* recorded: "An elderly woman over sixty years old suffered from loose stools for five years. Consuming meat, oily foods, or cold items would immediately cause pain. She had taken various medicines to regulate the Spleen, lift Qi, and astringe, but upon ingestion, her diarrhea worsened. I examined her pulse, which was deep and slippery. This indicated long-term injury to the Spleen and Stomach, caused by cold accumulation and stagnation, exactly as Wang Tai put it: 'Severe cold congeals within, causing chronic loose stools that recur after remission, lasting for years.' The treatment principle should be to purge with hot-natured herbs, thereby eliminating cold and stopping dysentery. I gave her fifty wax-coated Badou pills. After two days, her bowels were unobstructed, yet she did not experience diarrhea, and her leakage ceased. Since then, whenever this formula has been used to treat diarrhea, dysentery, and other stagnation diseases, it has never caused diarrhea.")
