(See the song in *Changsha Fang Ge Kuo*) Treats deficiency of consumptive disease (Xu Lao). Sweating with chest stuffiness. Pulse with intermittent beats (Jie) and palpitations. Physical activity remains normal. If critical conditions do not arise within one hundred days, death occurs on the eleventh day.
Gancao (Licorice Root), Guizhi (Cinnamon Twig), Shengjiang (Fresh Ginger), Renshen (Ginseng Root), Ejiao (Donkey-Hide Gelatin), Dazao (Jujube Fruit), Mahren (Hemp Seed), Maidong (Ophiopogon Tuber), Shengdi (Rehmannia Root).
Xu Lingtai stated: This is a miraculous formula for moistening dryness and restoring the pulse in consumptive disease. Nowadays, people prefer using Ejiao and Maidong but fear using Jiang (Ginger) and Guizhi (Cinnamon Twig). How can they know that yin coagulation and dry qi cannot be treated without yang... [text incomplete] treats cold consumption (Leng Lao). It also governs Gui Zhu (Ghost Affliction, a contagious chronic wasting disease). Transmission occurs among family members.
One liver of a water badger (Ta Gan), dried by roasting and powdered. Take one cun bi (a square-inch measure) with water. Administer three times daily.
The song states: The changes of Ta Gan are known to few; it grows a new leaf monthly, which is wondrous. It is suitable for Gui Zhu and Leng Lao; it exclusively manages Chuan Shi (Corpse Transmission) and insect-gu poisoning.
Wang Jinsan stated: Ta Gan San is an extraordinary formula. Ge Hong used it for Shi Zhu and Gui Zhu; Zhang Zhongjing used it for Leng Lao. According to records, Ta Gan has a warm nature and is good at transformation. Since Ta Gan grows one new leaf per month while shedding one old leaf, its nature can also eliminate hidden and变幻 (changing) parasites through growth and decline. It is truly a divine product.

The reason for this is upper jiao deficiency failing to control... [text incomplete]. This is cold in the lungs, inevitably causing dizziness and excessive salivation. Warm it with this formula. If thirst arises after taking the decoction, it belongs to Xiao Ke (Wasting-Thirst Disease).
Gancao (4 liang, roasted/stewed), Ganjiang (Dried Ginger, 2 liang, processed/pao).
Cut the herbs into small pieces. Boil in 3 sheng of water until reduced to 1.5 sheng. Strain. Divide into two doses and take warm.
The song states: Two liang of Ganjiang and four liang of roasted Gancao. The ginger must be thoroughly processed; the intent requires exploration. (Among formulas in *Shanghan Lun* and *Jingui Yaolue*, only this formula uses pao ginger.) Lung middle... [text incomplete] fluid depletion.
You Zaijing commented: Fei Wei are all heat syndromes, yet heat differs in excess and deficiency. Excess heat should use cold agents, whereas this condition results from deficiency due to loss of body fluids, generating... [text incomplete]. Gancao serves as the chief herb, assisted by thoroughly processed Ganjiang, transforming its acrid-warm nature into bitter-warm utility. Within the established method of sweet-warm removing great heat, a flexible method is incorporated. Face... [text incomplete].
