In the Gande era, there was a man in Zhejiang named Shen Gongdao. His body was emaciated as if suffering from consumption (Xu Lao), and he had a strong craving for rice. If deprived of rice, he would salivate clear fluid, appearing to be in a state of melancholy or excessive worry. Upon eating rice, his symptoms would immediately subside. Many physicians were unable to diagnose the condition. Later, he encountered Dao Shu, a monk from Shu, who prescribed a mixture of half a *he* (a traditional unit of volume) of chicken droppings (*Ji Shi Bai*) and half a *he* of white rice. These were stir-fried together, ground into powder, mixed with one cup of water, and taken orally. After some time, the patient vomited out matter resembling grains of rice, and the illness was cured. This disease is known as "Rice Jia" (Mi Jia).
Awei Wan (Asafoetida Pill)
Ingredients: Awei (Asafoetida), Shan Zha Rou (Hawthorn Fruit Flesh) (each 1 liang); Lian Qiao (Forsythiae Fructus) (5 qian); Huang Lian (Coptidis Rhizoma) (6.5 qian).

Another Prescription: For treating meat accumulation (Rou Ji), insect accumulation (Chong Ji), and any other difficult-to-digest accumulations causing abdominal fullness and pain, this prescription yields miraculous results without damaging the healthy qi (Yuan Qi).

Take 7-8 fen per dose; for severe cases, take 1 qian. Administer at dawn (Wu Geng time) with wine. Stop taking when the mass dissipates; it is not necessary to finish the entire course. Using bile from a black dog for binding is also excellent.
