1. The Master said: When a woman presents with a calm pulse, but the Yin pulse (referring to the radial artery at the cun position, often associated with the kidney/yin aspect) is slightly weak, and she experiences thirst, inability to eat, without aversion to cold or fever, this is named pregnancy. Guizhi Tang (Cinnamon Twig Decoction) should be administered. (The formula is seen in the section on Diarrhea). According to the method, these symptoms should appear around sixty days of gestation. If improper treatment causes the condition to worsen, and vomiting or diarrhea occurs after one month, such erroneous treatments must be discontinued.
2. A woman who previously suffered from a mass disease (zheng jia, abdominal masses), whose menstruation has stopped for less than three months, yet continues to experience dripping vaginal bleeding, and feels fetal movement above the umbilicus, this indicates that the pre-existing mass is causing harm. If fetal movement is felt at six months of gestation, and menstruation was normal during the first three months, it is a normal fetus. If there was prior dripping bleeding followed by cessation of menstruation for three months, it is a mass disease. The reason the bleeding does not stop is that the mass remains; therefore, the mass should be expelled using Guizhi Fuling Wan (Cinnamon Twig and Poria Pill).
Guizhi Fuling Wan Formula
Guizhi (Ramulus Cinnamomi), Fuling (Poria), Mudanpi (Cortex Moutan, heart removed), Taoren (Semen Persicae, skin and tip removed, roasted), Shaoyao (Radix Paeoniae Alba) (all in equal parts).
Grind the above five herbs into powder. Mix with refined honey to form pills the size of rabbit droppings. Take one pill before meals daily. If ineffective, increase to three pills.
3. In women pregnant for six or seven months, if the pulse is wiry and accompanied by fever, the sensation of fetal distension increases, abdominal pain occurs with aversion to cold, and the lower abdomen feels as if fanned by a wind. This occurs because the Zi Zang (uterus) is open. Therefore, Fuzi Tang (Aconite Decoction) should be used to warm the uterus. (Formula not shown.)
4. The Master said: Women may present with continuous dripping bleeding, continuous bleeding following a miscarriage, or bleeding during pregnancy. If abdominal pain occurs during pregnancy, it is called Bao Zu (placental obstruction), and Jiao Ai Tang (Colla Corii Asini and Artemisia Argyi Decoction) should be administered.

If there is irritability, vomiting, pain, and inability to eat or drink, add Xixin (Herba Asari) 1 liang and large Banxia 20 pieces. After taking the medicine, follow with vinegar-grain water. If vomiting persists, use vinegar-grain water; if still unresolved, use wheat juice. If thirsty later, consume barley porridge. Even if the illness resolves, do not discontinue use.
11. For injured fetus in women, presenting with abdominal fullness during pregnancy, inability to urinate, heaviness from the waist down resembling fluid retention, at seven months of pregnancy, when the Taiyin spleen fails to nourish due to excess Heart Qi, acupuncture at Laogong (PC 8) and Guanyuan (CV 4) should be used to drain the excess.
