By employing the reducing method to dispel pathogenic factors and expel blood stasis, if the needle is retained for too long, it may develop into Bi syndrome (obstruction syndrome). In general, when inspecting the collateral vessels, a bluish color indicates cold and pain, while a reddish color indicates heat. If there is cold in the Stomach, the collaterals on the thenar eminence (Hand Fish) will appear predominantly blue; if there is heat in the Stomach, the collaterals at the thenar eminence will be red; if the color suddenly turns black, it indicates chronic Bi syndrome; if the colors are mixed with red, black, and blue, it indicates a condition of alternating cold and heat; if the collaterals appear short, it indicates deficiency of Qi (Shao Qi). When treating conditions of cold and heat, which typically involve numerous blood collaterals, puncture should be performed every other day until the stasis is exhausted, after which the deficiency and excess should be regulated. In cases where the collaterals are small and short, indicating deficiency of Qi, applying the reducing method may cause chest oppression; severe oppression may lead to collapse and inability to speak, in which case the patient should be seated immediately.
The Luo-connecting vessel of the Hand-Taiyin Lung Meridian is named Lieque (LU-7), originating from the intermuscular space above the wrist, running parallel to the Hand-Taiyin channel directly into the palm, and dispersing into the thenar eminence. Its pathological manifestations include: in excess patterns, heat in the radial side of the wrist and palm; in deficiency patterns, yawning, urinary incontinence, or frequent urination. Treatment involves selecting Lieque, located half a cun distal to the wrist crease, as this vessel diverges to connect with the Hand-Yangming Large Intestine Meridian.
The Luo-connecting vessel of the Hand-Shaoyin Heart Meridian is named Tongli (HT-5), located one and a half cun proximal to the wrist crease, ascending along the channel into the heart, connecting with the root of the tongue, and attaching to the eye system. Its pathological manifestations include: in excess patterns, fullness and distension in the precordium; in deficiency patterns, aphonia. Treatment involves selecting Tongli, located one cun proximal to the posterior wrist crease, as this vessel diverges to connect with the Hand-Taiyang Small Intestine Meridian.
The Luo-connecting vessel of the Hand-Jueyin Pericardium Meridian is named Neiguan (PC-6), located two cun proximal to the wrist crease, emerging between the two tendons, ascending along the channel to connect with the heart and pericardium. Its pathological manifestations include: in excess patterns, heart pain; in deficiency patterns, stiffness of the head and neck. Treatment involves selecting Neiguan, located between the two tendons.
The Luo-connecting vessel of the Hand-Taiyang Small Intestine Meridian is named Zhizheng (SI-7), located five cun proximal to the wrist crease, flowing inward to connect with the Hand-Shaoyin Heart Meridian; its branch ascends to the elbow and connects with the shoulder. Its pathological manifestations include: in excess patterns, flaccidity of the joints and loss of function in the elbow; in deficiency patterns, skin sores, small ones resembling scabs or scabies on the fingers. Treatment involves selecting the point where this vessel diverges.
The Luo-connecting vessel of the Hand-Yangming Large Intestine Meridian is named Pianli (LI-6),
