The Ba-zi (figure-eight) pattern of tendons at the fontanelle is extremely abnormal; if the tendon penetrates all three passes, life will surely be lost. If the tendon just enters the first pass and shows fluctuation, or invades the second pass, there is still some room for maneuver.
Red tendons are merely due to ge-shi (food stagnation in the chest/diaphragm); greenish-blue tendons are indeed caused by water-wind (cold-dampness and wind pathogens). Tendons connecting to the big toe indicate Yin syndrome; if the tendons bloom like flowers, it is definitely an ill omen (these are tendons associated with disaster).
Tendons carrying a Xuan-zhen (hanging needle-like vertical line) pattern primarily indicate vomiting and diarrhea; if the tendon pattern extends beyond the outer pass, life will be hard to sustain. Phlegm infusing into the four limbs and abdominal distension, while spitting milk is due to damage from milk/food intake. Yu-kou (fish-mouth opening), Ya-sheng (crow-like hoarse voice), and shortness of breath occur together; dog-barking coughs cause people to panic. All wind diseases and convulsive syndromes should be assessed early; if delayed, life will surely be lost. The Immortals left behind truly miraculous methods; those who can master them as later learners will be the strongest.
Whenever observing tendons on the nose bridge, if they insert straight into the Tian-xin point, it indicates lifelong fright.
At birth, if there is a white mark at the first pass, beware of onset within three days. If at the second pass, beware within five days. If at the third pass, beware after one year.
If tendons appear at the Kan position, death ensues; if below Kan, survival for three years. There are also tendons of the natural color of the four seasons; although present, they are harmless.
Green indicates Wind, White indicates Water, Red indicates Heat, and Crimson indicates injury from milk/food.
When slow convulsions are critical and speech is lost, first moxa San-yin-jiao (SP6), Er Ni-wan, San Jia-che (ST6), Si Shao-shang (LU11), Wu Shao-hai (HT3). Depending on the severity of the disease, apply 3, 5, 1, or up to 49 moxa cones, distinguishing male/female and right/left sides. Ten cases yield ten recoveries. For acute convulsions or Tian-diao convulsion, pinch the green tendons on the hands, above and below the umbilicus, both ears, and Zong-xin point.
For Nei-diao convulsion, pinch Tian-xin point.
For slow convulsions with loss of consciousness, also pinch Zong-xin point.
For acute convulsions resembling death, pinch the tendons of both hands.
For closed eyes, drain Tong-zi-liao (GB1).
For locked jaw, drain Jia-che (ST6).
For both mouth and eyes closed, drain Ying-xiang (LI20).
These aforementioned methods are divine techniques using hands instead of needles. They also distinguish between tonification and sedation.
Symptoms on the face: the forehead corresponds to the Heart; the nose corresponds to Spleen Earth, which is true. The left cheek corresponds to the Liver, the right to the Lung; Cheng-jang (CV24) corresponds to the Kidney, located below the lower lip.
