Yinmen (An Men), also known as Sheheng (Tong Transverse) and Sheyan (Tong Aversion), is located in the depression at the center of the posterior hairline. It connects internally to the root of the tongue and is the meeting point of the Du Mai (Conception Vessel of the Back) and Yangwei Mai (Yang Linking Vessel). The acupoint should be accessed with the head raised. Needling depth is 4 fen; moxibustion is contraindicated, as it may cause aphonia. (Note from *Qifu Lun*: It is 1 cun distal to Fengfu.)
Tianzhu (Celestial Pillar) is located in the depression lateral to the large tendons (trapezius muscles) at the posterior hairline of the neck. It is a site where the Qi of the Foot-Taiyang Bladder Meridian emerges. Needling depth is 2 fen; retain the needle for six breaths; apply 3 moxa cones.
Fengchi (Wind Pool) is located in the depression behind the mastoid process and posterior hairline. It is the meeting point of the Foot-Shaoyang Gallbladder Meridian and Yangwei Mai (Yang Linking Vessel). Needling depth is 3 fen; retain the needle for three breaths; apply 3 moxa cones. (Note from *Qifu Lun*: It is in the depression behind the ear; pressing elicits sensation in the ear. It is the meeting point of the Hand and Foot Shaoyang meridians. Needling depth is 4 fen.)
(Note from *Qifu Lun*: Lingtai (Spirit Platform) is below the sixth vertebra; Zhongshu (Central Pivot) is below the tenth vertebra; Yangguan (Yang Gate) is below the sixteenth vertebra.)
Dazhui (Great Vertebra) is located in the depression below the spinous process of the first thoracic vertebra. It is the meeting point of the Three Yang meridians of the Hand, Three Yang meridians of the Foot, and the Du Mai (Conception Vessel of the Back). Needling depth is 5 fen; apply 9 moxa cones.
Taodao (Way of Heaven) is located in the interspace below the Dazhui vertebra. It is the meeting point of the Du Mai (Conception Vessel of the Back) and Foot-Taiyang Bladder Meridian. The patient should bend forward to access the point. Needling depth is 5 fen; retain the needle for five breaths; apply 5 moxa cones.
Shenzhu (Spirit Pillar) is located in the interspace below the spinous process of the third thoracic vertebra. It is a site where the Qi of the Du Mai (Conception Vessel of the Back) emerges. The patient should bend forward to access the point. Needling depth is 5 fen; retain the needle for five breaths; apply 3 moxa cones. (Note from *Qifu Lun*: Apply 5 moxa cones.)
