Eleven vertebrae down, on both sides of the spine within three cun, there are twenty-six acupoints in total. Part Nine:
Fufen (BL17) is located below the second thoracic vertebra, adjacent to the medial edge of the neck, three cun lateral to the spine. It is a meeting point of the Foot-Taiyang Bladder Channel. Needle insertion depth is eight fen; moxibustion consists of five cones.
Pohu (BL42) is located below the third thoracic vertebra, three cun lateral to the spine. It is where the Qi of the Foot-Taiyang Channel emerges. Needle insertion depth is three fen; moxibustion consists of five cones.
Shentang (BL44) is located below the fifth thoracic vertebra, in the depression three cun lateral to the spine. It is where the Qi of the Foot-Taiyang Channel emerges. Needle insertion depth is three fen; moxibustion consists of five cones.
Yixi (BL43) is located at the medial edge of the scapula, flanking the lower part of the sixth thoracic vertebra, three cun lateral to the spine. Press firmly with the hand; if the patient utters the sound "yixi," the correct point has been found. It is where the Qi of the Foot-Taiyang Channel emerges. Needle insertion depth is six fen; moxibustion consists of five cones. (*Gu Kong Zhu* notes: Instruct the patient to call out "yixi"; movement will be felt under the finger. Moxibustion consists of three cones.)
Geguan (BL48) is located below the seventh thoracic vertebra, in the depression three cun lateral to the spine. It is where the Qi of the Foot-Taiyang Channel emerges. Sit upright and spread the shoulders to locate the point. Needle insertion depth is five fen; moxibustion consists of three cones. (*Qi Fu Lun Zhu* notes: Moxibustion consists of five cones.)
