Sudden onset of jaundice with internal reversal of qi, causing the qi of the Liver and Lung to struggle against each other, resulting in blood overflowing from the nose and mouth. Treat by selecting Tianfu (LI16); this is one of the five major acupoint regions of the Stomach meridian (Regarding the "five regions," according to *Ling Shu*: For headache due to Yang qi reversal accompanied by chest fullness and dyspnea, select Renying (ST9); for sudden aphonia with qi obstruction, puncture Futu (ST18) and the root of the tongue to bleed; for sudden deafness with mental clouding and unclear vision/hearing, select Tianyou (TE16); for sudden spasm and epilepsy where the legs cannot support the body, select Tianzhu (BL10); for sudden Bi syndrome with internal qi reversal, Liver-Lung struggle, and blood overflow from nose/mouth, select Tianfu (LI16), which belongs to the five major Shu points/regions of the Stomach meridian. Currently, Huangfu Mi disperses these into five specific points in the text, but this instance refers specifically to one of the five regions). If epistaxis does not stop and bleeding continues, select points on the Foot-Taiyang Bladder Meridian; for severe epistaxis, select points on the Hand-Taiyang Small Intestine Meridian; if ineffective, puncture below Wanggu (SI4); if still ineffective, puncture Xizhong (Bladder Xi-cleft point) to bleed.
For rhinorrhea and epistaxis, Shangxing (GV23) is the primary point. First select Yixi (BL13), then select Tianyou (TE16) and Fengchi (GB20). For nasal duct carbuncle developing into malignant sores, Naokong (GB13) is the primary point. For rhinorrhea with poor ventilation, nasal obstruction, facial deviation with excessive turbid discharge, rhinorrhea/epistaxis accompanied by abscesses, Yingxiang (LI20) is the primary point. For purulent rhinorrhea, presence of polyps or old flesh, nasal blockage, loss of smell, Su Liao (GV25) is the primary point. For nasal congestion with facial deviation, uncontrollable clear rhinorrhea, rhinorrhea/epistaxis with abscesses, He Liao (LI19) is the primary point. For nasal polyps causing obstruction, pain at the nasal tip and forehead, and corrosive ulcers in the nose, Yinjiao (DU28) is the primary point. For rhinorrhea causing breathing difficulty, inability to control secretions, loss of smell, and unceasing epistaxis, Shuigou (GV26) is the primary point. For unceasing epistaxis, Chengjiang (CV24) and Weizhong (BL40) are the primary points. For nasal obstruction, Qian Gu (SI3) is the primary point. For epistaxis, Wanggu (SI4) is the primary point.
For pharyngolaryngeal obstruction (Hou Bi) preventing speech, select points on the Foot-Yangming Stomach Meridian; if speech is possible, select points on the Hand-Yangming Large Intestine Meridian.
For Hou Bi, Wangu (GB12), Tianrong (SI17), Qishe (ST11), Tianding (SI17), Chize (LU5), Hegu (LI4), Shangyang (LI1), Yangxi (LI5), Zhongzhu (TE3), Qian Gu (SI3), Shangqiu (SP5), Ran Gu (KI2), and Yangjiao (GB35) all treat it. For Hou Bi with throat swelling and inability to swallow fluids, Xuanji (CV15) is the primary point. For Hou Bi with difficulty eating, Jiutui (CV15) is the primary point. For Hou Bi with a sensation of obstruction in the throat, San Jian (LI3) is the primary point. For Hou Bi preventing speech, Wen Liu (LI7) and Quchi (LI11) are the primary points. For Hou Bi with rebellious qi, facial deviation, and a feeling of strangulation in the throat/pharynx, Xingjian (LR2) is the primary point (*Qian Jin Fang* reads Jianshi PC5). For sore throat preventing food intake, Yongquan (KI1) is the primary point.
