The six Yang meridians of the hand extend from the hand to the head, each measuring five chi; together they measure three zhang. The six Yin meridians of the hand extend from the hand to the chest center, each measuring three chi and five cun; six times one is one zhang and eight chi, plus five times six adds three chi, totaling two zhang and one chi. The six Yang meridians of the foot extend from the top of the foot to the head, each measuring eight chi; together they measure four zhang and eight chi. The six Yin meridians of the foot extend from the foot to the chest center, each measuring six chi and five cun; six times six is three zhang and six chi, plus five times six adds three chi, totaling three zhang and nine chi. The Qiao meridians (Shenmai and Yangqiao) extend from the foot to the eye, each measuring seven chi and five cun; two times seven is one zhang and four chi, plus two times five adds one chi, totaling one zhang and five chi. The Du Mai (Governing Vessel) and Ren Mai (Conception Vessel) are each four chi and five cun long; two times four is eight chi, plus two times five adds one chi, totaling nine chi. Altogether, these sum up to sixteen zhang and two chi, which constitutes the major pathways through which Qi circulates.
