The yin and yang qi and blood of the twelve meridians, when stagnant and obstructed, rely entirely on acupuncture to regulate. Carefully deduce the interactions of the Ten Heavenly Stems and Five Elements, and strictly observe the changes of the Four Seasons and Eight Solar Terms. One must know the sequence of insertion and withdrawal, and be cautious with opening and closing acupoints, avoiding reckless actions. To harmonize cold and heat syndromes, for tonification, withdraw the needle slowly; for sedation, close the acupoint gradually. Elucidate the profound mysteries of *Nan Jing* (Classic of Difficult Issues) and *Su Wen* (Basic Questions), and comprehend the secrets of Qi Bo and Huang Di. If one applies heart and effort in study, one will inevitably become more wise and enlightened. It is like building a cart behind closed doors; if the structure is upright, it will naturally fit the ruts when driven out. If one meets a person of ambition to discuss this in detail, do not speak of it to those who are not kindred spirits. Completing one's own scholarly framework makes one a hero among physicians.
The method of lifting qi is most effective during treatment, capable of dispelling stubborn bi-syndrome (obstruction syndrome) and various wind pathogens. This is clearly a secret revealed by immortals. Preserve this profound wisdom in the world. It is also said: Rotate the needle a thousand times, and the disease will dissipate on its own.
Cang Long Bai Wei (Green Dragon Wags Tail) begins with swaying movements, followed by Chi Feng Yao Tou (Red Phoenix Shakes Head). Extend and lift up and down, pressing and cutting, allowing qi to reach the joints and circulate freely.
For initial cases of accumulation masses and qi blocks, accompanied by frequent fever and torment, apply the Liu Zhu Fa (Flowing and Pouring Method) in hand, and the qi blocks in the abdomen will gradually dissipate.
Na Qi (Receiving Qi) is the same as Jin Qi (Advancing Qi). Although the creative principle is the same, the techniques differ. The manipulation of qi in hand requires diligence and seriousness; the profound principles lie within the manual operation.
Lifting the needle is most effective, capable of dispelling stubborn bi-syndrome and various wind pathogens. Pondering upon encountering the true immortal secret, the wonderful techniques of needling are contained therein.
The Eight Methods of Advancing Needles deserve careful attention, as they can cure diseases and restore spiritual clarity. This method is passed down secretly; do not speak of it lightly. Its value should be equivalent to ten thousand gold pieces.
The True Dragon descends from here, countering Wood with the complete form of White Tiger. Repeatedly flying from the Li Palace towards the North, amidst the fluctuations of Yin-Yang and the numbers Nine and Six.
The wondrous mystery of Dragon and Tiger soaring through twisting manipulations allows qi to flow up and down like connected mountains. Upon receiving the master's oral transmission clearly, I now teach you, and the disease will heal itself.
Before noon, understand the handling of cold and heat: leftward twisting is tonification, rightward twisting is sedation. Lifting the needle generates heat, inserting the needle generates cold. This is the true wonderful secret of immortals.
After noon, understand the handling of cold and heat: rightward twisting is tonification, leftward twisting is sedation. Inserting the needle generates heat, lifting the needle generates cold. For women, these principles are reversed and must be distinguished accordingly.
Cold extremities are the hardest to endure; unceasing aversion to cold indicates a serious condition. Disperse the chaotic qi and employ Shao Shan Huo (Burning Mountain Fire, a warming tonification technique), and the patient will immediately find peace.
The whole body feels as if burning with fire, with constant heat rising to the Upper Jiao (Upper Burner). If one follows the method for acupuncture, searching out and eliminating heat toxins, the disease can be eliminated.
