Foot Shaoyin Kidney Meridian
The meridian of the Foot Shaoyin (Kidney) originates below the little toe, slanting towards the center of the foot at Yongquan (KI 1).
"Qu" means to approach. The Foot Shaoyin meridian originates below the little toe and slants towards Yongquan in the center of the foot.
It emerges below Ran Gu (KI 2), follows the posterior aspect of the medial malleolus, branches into the heel, ascends along the medial aspect of the lower leg, and emerges at the anterior margin of the medial malleolus.
"Heel" refers to the calcaneus. From Yongquan, it turns out to the point below Ran Gu at the medial malleolus, follows Tai Xi (KI 3) behind the medial malleolus, and branches into Da Zhong (KI 4), Zhao Hai (KI 6), and Shui Quan (KI 5) within the heel.
Emerging from the anterior margin of the medial malleolus, it reaches Yin Gu (KI 10).
It ascends along the posterior medial border of the thigh, penetrates the spine, connects with the Kidney, and links with the Bladder.
From Yin Gu, it ascends along the posterior medial border of the thigh, penetrates the spine, meets the Chang Qiang (GV 1) point on the spine, returns forward, and follows Heng Gu (KI 12), Da He (KI 13), Qi Xue (KI 14), Si Man (KI 15), Zhong Zhu (KI 16), and Huang Shu (KI 17). At the location of Huang Shu, on either side of the umbilicus, it connects with the Kidney; descending through Guan Yuan (CV 4) and Zhong Ji (CV 3), it links with the Bladder.
Its main branch ascends from the Kidney, passes through the Liver and diaphragm, enters the Lung, follows the throat, and flanks the root of the tongue.
The main branch ascends from where Huang Shu connects with the Kidney, following Shang Qu (KI 18), Shi Guan (KI 19), Yin Du (KI 20), and Tong Gu (KI 21), passes through the Liver ascending to You Men (KI 22), pierces the diaphragm passing Bu Lang (BL 23) to enter the Lung, then centrally follows Shen Feng (BL 24), Ling Xu (BL 25), Shen Cang (BL 26), Yu Zhong (BL 27), and Yu Fu (BL 28) ascending along the throat, joins Ren Ying (ST 9), flanks the root of the tongue, and ends.
Its branch emerges from the Lung, connects with the Heart, and pours into the chest.
The area between the two breasts is the chest. The branch diverges from Shen Cang (BL 26), circles the Heart, pours into Dan Zhong (CV 17) in the chest, and intersects with the Hand Jueyin Pericardium Meridian.
This meridian has abundant blood and scarce qi. Qi and blood flow into it during the You hour (5-7 PM). It receives intersection from the Foot Taiyang Bladder Meridian.
There are twenty-seven acupoints on this meridian, totaling fifty-four points bilaterally. The needle insertion depth is two fen, retaining the needle for two breaths.

The Pericardium Luo is located above the transverse membrane below the heart and below the vertical membrane, adhering to the transverse membrane, with the heart wrapped in yellow fat. Outside this fat membrane, fine fibrous membranes like silk connect to the heart and lungs; this is the Pericardium.
Hua Shi said: Why is the Hand Jueyin Xin-Zhu also called Xin-Bao? I reply: Jun-Huo acts by name, Xiang-Huo acts by position. The Hand Jueyin performs the duties of Jun-Huo. From the perspective of function, it is called Hand Jueyin Xin-Zhu; from the perspective of meridians, it is called Xin-Bao Luo. One meridian with two names, actually it is Xiang-Huo.
