Qimen (LR14) is indicated for various residual diseases after childbirth. (Recorded under Heartache in *Tongren Shuxue Zhenjiu Tujing*.) Qianyun is indicated for residual diseases after childbirth, including inability to eat, upward and downward rushing of Ben Tun (Roving Pig), and abdominal fullness due to food stagnation.
Tuliao (Note: "Tu" likely refers to a specific point contextually, often associated with Gallbladder meridian points like Fubai or similar in ancient texts, translated here as Tuliao based on literal character) treats various gynecological disorders in women. (Recorded in *Mingtang Jing*). For postpartum body-wide pain, needle Bailao (EX-BN6). Needle wherever there is pain. Avoid tendons, bones, and contraindicated acupoints. (Recorded by Xu Shimiao) The note below *Mingtang Jing* states: Moxibustion is not suitable within one hundred days after childbirth.
Postpartum blood fainting, alternating chills and fever, or blood rushing to the heart, are malignant conditions. I read *Shiliao Bencao* and found a method using deer horn burnt to powder, taken with wine, administered several times a day, which proved effective. Accidentally, a woman in my household suffered from this; having her take this medicine yielded miraculous results. I then taught other women to take it, all verifying effective. However, since alcohol is not advisable immediately postpartum, use urine from an uncircumcised boy (Tongzi Xiaobian) for mixing instead. (It is most taboo to administer purgative drugs.)
The note below *Mingtang Jing* states: During pregnancy, regardless of the month, moxibustion is not suitable. *Tongren Shuxue Zhenjiu Tujing* states: Formerly, the Crown Prince of Song was skilled in medicine. While leaving the palace, he encountered a pregnant woman. He asked Xu Wenbo to diagnose her. Xu Wenbo said, "She carries one male and one female." Needling Sanyinjiao (SP6) with reducing method and Hegu (LI4) with reinforcing method caused immediate delivery. It indeed happened as Xu Wenbo predicted. Therefore, needling should be avoided during pregnancy.
(Placenta retention, fetal distress/heart rush, abortion)
Chongmen (ST30) treats difficult labor and fetal pressure on the heart causing dyspnea. (Recorded in *Tongren Shuxue Zhenjiu Tujing*) Zhang Zhongwen treated transverse presentation with hand protruding first, where charms and medicines failed. Moxibusting the tip of the right big toe with three cones, each the size of a wheat grain, resulted in immediate delivery upon extinguishing the fire. Zhongfeng (KI7) treats abdominal distension, difficulty in childbirth, dry throat with thirst, and hernia flanking the navel. (Recorded in *Qianjin Fang*) Shangkunlun (likely referring to Kunlun BL60 or similar upper location context) treats difficulty in childbirth. If placenta retention occurs, dispersing wind from head to foot. Qichong (ST30) treats placenta retention. (See Menstruation section.) Qichong (ST30) treats fetal pressure on the heart. (*Tongren* see Menstruation section, same as *Qianjin*). Chongmen (ST30) treats difficulty in lactation, fetal pressure on the heart, and yin hernia. (*Qianjin Hai Shang Fang* for difficult labor and retained dead placenta: Seven seeds of Ricinus communis, peeled and ground into paste, applied to the sole of the foot. Wash off immediately after delivery. *Ben Shi Fang* states it is extremely effective.)
Formerly, Princess Hu Yang experienced repeated difficult labors. A Daoist priest from Zhongnan Mountain presented Zhike Powder, which was miraculously effective. (Four liang of Zhike bran-fried and de-seeded, three liang of Gancao honey-fried, ground into fine powder, taken orally twice daily.) For transverse or breech presentation, Heisan is suitable. (Baicaoshuang, soot from the pot bottom, mixed equally with Xiangbaizhi. Take two qianbi per dose, mixed with vinegar and urine from an uncircumcised boy, add a little boiling water, warm and drink. After a while, normal birth ensues. If not delivered, prepare another dose; within moments, two lives can be saved.) I have taught people to take it with frequent success, so I append this record.
For women experiencing cold extremities and reversal after abortion, needling Jianjing (GB21) brings immediate recovery; moxibustion is superior to needling, applicable for seven cones. (Recorded in *Tongren Shuxue Zhenjiu Tujing*)
