When there is sudden syncope with rebellious Qi rushing upward, attacking both hypochondriac regions, causing pain and fullness below the heart, with a faint breath as if about to cease, this is called Ben Tun Qi (Panic Qi). Immediately prepare a decoction to soak both hands and feet. Change the liquid frequently. (From *Qian Jin Fang*)
For Ben Tun causing abdominal swelling, moxa Zhangmen (LR13) for 100 moxa cones. For treating Ben Tun, moxa Qihai (CV6) for 100 moxa cones. Alternatively, moxa Qimen (LR14) or Guanyuan (CV4), each for 100 moxa cones.
For Ben Tun Qi rushing to the heart and chest causing dyspnea, moxa Zhongji (CV3) for 50 moxa cones. For Ben Tun Qi moving up and down, with abdominal and lumbar regions pulling each other in pain, moxa Zhongfu (LU1) for 100 moxa cones. For Ben Tun Qi moving up and down, moxa Siman (CV30) for 7 moxa cones. Qimen (LR14), Yinjiao (CV7), and Shimen (CV5) govern Ben Tun. (See postpartum section; see infertility section for Yinjiao and Shimen).
For Ben Tun causing abdominal swelling, Zhangmen (LR13) governs it. For Ben Tun Qi rushing upward, abdominal pain, penile swelling, initially pulling pain in the lower back, then pulling pain in the lower abdomen, hard and painful sensation in the lower back and abdomen pulling down to the yin region, inability to urinate, and retraction of both testicles, Shimen (CV5) governs it. For Ben Tun Qi rushing upward, hard and painful abdomen pulling to the yin region, inability to urinate, and retraction of both testicles, Yinjiao (CV7) governs it. (From *Jia Yi Jing*)
Zhangmen (LR13), Shimen (CV5), and Yinjiao (CV7) govern rebellious Qi of Ben Tun. Qimen (LR14) governs Ben Tun Qi moving up and down. (*Tong Ren* records: Zhongji (CV3) governs Ben Tun Qi rushing to the heart and chest. When severe, it causes dyspnea. Tianshu (ST25) governs Ben Tun distension and hernia. Guilai (ST29) governs Ben Tun. Testicular retraction pulling pain to the penis. Tianshu (ST25) governs Qi Hernia. Restlessness, vomiting, facial swelling. Ben Tun. (*Jia Yi* records: Guanyuan (CV4) and Zhongji (CV3) govern women's Ben Tun Qi rushing to the heart and chest. Shangwan (CV13) treats mental restlessness. Ben Tun Qi. Distension and inability to eat. (*Ming Tang* records: Juequ (CV14) treats Ben Tun Qi distension and inability to eat. (*Tong Ren* records: Zhongwan (CV12) treats Ben Tun Qi attacking upward caused by excessive reading. Fuliang Qi located below the heart, shaped like an inverted cup, cold phlegm binding Qi. (*Ming Tang* states: Ben Tun Qi feels like chest oppression, Fuliang Qi feels like an inverted cup.) Guilai (ST29) treats lower abdominal Ben Tun. *Qian Jin* states: Governs Ben Tun. (All seen in Yin Pain section). Zhongji (CV3) treats Ben Tun Qi rushing to the heart and chest. When severe, it causes dyspnea, trance-like state resembling corpse rigidity. Guanyuan (CV4) treats Ben Tun. Cold Qi entering the lower abdomen. (*Qian Jin* same). Frequent desire to vomit, hematuria, yellow urine, continuous diarrhea. (*Ming Tang* lower part records) Qihai (CV6) treats Ben Tun abdominal hardness. (Seen in Labor section). Qimen (LR14) governs Ben Tun. (Seen in Postpartum section). Qixue (BL28) treats Ben Qi moving up and down, pulling lumbar and spinal pain. (Seen in Menstruation section). Guanyuan (CV4), Zhongji (CV3), Yinjiao (CV7), Shimen (CV5), Siman (CV30) (*Qian Jin* all seen in Infertility section). Qimen (LR14) (Seen in Postpartum Diseases section). Govern women's Ben Tun.
