The diseases of mania and epilepsy caused by a hundred evils are referred to as such. There are thirteen acupuncture points that must be recognized. In the general principle of needling, one first treats the Ghost Palace (Guigong) point, then needles the Ghost Belief (Guixin) point; there is no case where this does not respond. One seeks them one by one from the beginning.
For male patients, start from the left side; for female patients, start from the right side. The first needle is at the Renzhong (GV26) point, named Ghost Palace (Guigong), stopping here. Insert on the left and withdraw on the right (insert 0.3 cun). The second needle is under the nail of the thumb (Shaoshang, LU11), named Ghost Belief (Guixin), inserted deeply to 0.3 cun. The third needle is under the nail of the great toe (Yinbai, SP1), named Ghost Tower (Guilei), inserted to 0.2 cun. The fourth needle takes the Tailing (PC7) point in the palm, inserted to 0.5 cun, named Ghost Heart (Guxin). The fifth needle takes Shenmai (BL62), named Ghost Path (Gulu). Fire needle insertion is 0.3 cun. The sixth needle seeks above the Dazhui (GV14) point, one cun into the hairline, named Ghost Pillow (Guizhen) (i.e., Fengfu, GV16, insert 0.2 cun). The seventh needle takes the area eight fen below the earlobe (Jiache, ST6, insert 0.5 cun), named Ghost Bed (Guichuang). The eighth needle takes Chengjiang (CV24), named Ghost Market (Guishi). Withdraw from left to right, you must remember (insert 0.3 cun). The ninth needle takes Laogong (PC8), named Ghost Cave (Guiku) (insert 0.2 cun; alternatively Jianshi, PC5, with similar meaning). The tenth needle takes Shangxing (GV23), named Ghost Hall (Gutang) (insert 0.2 cun). The eleventh needle involves moxibustion of three cones in the seam of the yin region (male: Huiyin, CV1); for females, the entrance of the jade gate, named Ghost Storage (Guicang) (can insert 0.3 cun). The twelfth needle takes Quchi (LI11), named Ghost Leg (Guitui); fire needle still requires seven fen (insert 0.5 cun). The thirteenth needle takes the central seam under the tongue, using a gold needle to bleed, named Ghost Seal (Guifeng) (place a needle horizontally in the mouth, keep the tongue still, prick to bleed, very effective). Needle both sides of hands and feet relatively; if encountering an isolated point, treat only the single side. This is the true wonderful secret of the ancestors, making wild ghosts vanish without a trace.
Men needle the left side first, women needle the right side first. Odd days are Yang days, even days are Yin days. On Yang days, rotate the needle clockwise; on Yin days, rotate the needle counter-clockwise.

If Cold Damage (Shanghan) has passed through the stages but remains unresolved, needle the Qimen (LR14) point. If sudden asthma attacks the chest and diaphragm, apply careful reducing method at Zusanli (ST36). For Cold Damage without sweat, reduce Fuliou (KI7); for excessive sweating, Hegu (LI4) is also suitable (reduce). If all six pulses are minute and fine, apply more tonification under the needle, and the pulse will easily become floating.
Seasonal epidemic malaria is hardest to withstand. With sweat, use Yexi (BL57) and Xiaxi (GB43). For lower back pain, Xuehai (SP10), Chongyang (ST42), Lidui (ST45), and Taichong (LR3) are used together.
For malaria, Jianshi (PC5) and Dazhui (GV14) are excellent. Houxi (SI3), Hegu (LI4), and Gaohuang (BL43) are combined. Adding Zusanli (ST36) and Xuanzhong (GB39), the spleen cold of malaria immediately recovers.
For heatstroke, search Renzhong (GV26) and Baihui (GV20); for Yangming channel, seek Hegu (LI4) and Neiting (ST44). For heat damaging lung qi causing fullness in the diaphragm and chest, collect with Lieque (LU7), Qihai (CV6), and Zhongji (CV3).
For stroke, take Hegu (LI4) and the Yuan-Source point of the Large Intestine (Hegu); among the Eight Extraordinary Vessels, aid with Shenmai (BL62). Zusanli (ST36), Jianjing (GB21), and Huantiao (GB30); Weizhong (BL40), Fengshi (GB31), and Yanglingquan (GB34) are used together.
For locked jaw, first examine Shenmai (BL62) (Yang Heel Vessel corresponds to Houxi); Jiache (ST6), Hegu (LI4), and Chengjiang (CV24) are combined. For facial paralysis, add Dicang (ST4) (suitable to penetrate to Jiache); if not paralyzed, take Yangxi (LI5) and Quchi (LI11). For shoulder pain, take Hegu (LI4) and Waizhuzhu (SJ4). Xingjian (LR2), Shenmai (BL62), and Kunlun (BL60); Zusanli (ST36), Yanglingquan (GB34), and Fengshi (GB31) are pushed/massaged.
For five types of epilepsy, retain Baihui (GV20) and Neiguan (PC6) (connecting Yin Linking Vessel, corresponding to Gongsun); Ghost Leg (Quchi, LI11), Shenmen (HT7), and Houxi (SI3). Jiutui (CV15), Xinshu (BL15); needling and moxa at Shangxing (GV23) and Tongli (HT5) can cure obsession.
For asthma, first seek Zhongwan (CV12). For lung issues, approach Tiantu (CV22) and Zhongfu (LU1). Qihai (CV6) and Zusanli (ST36) are both called wonderful; needling Lieque (LU7) ensures disease does not invade.
For consumption and corpse transmission, moxa the Sihua points. Gaohuang (BL43) and Feishu (BL13) are truly praiseworthy. Dazhui (GV14) and the third thoracic vertebra (Shenzhu, GV12); frequent use of Guiyan yields no error.
For gu distension, know that Zhaohai (KI6) is spiritual (Zhaohai connects Yin Heel Vessel, corresponding to Lieque); Xingjian (LR2), Qihai (CV6), and Sanyinjiao (SP6) intersect. Shuigou (GV26), Zusanli (ST36), and Neiting (ST44) stabilize.
Divide into nine types of heart pain and spleen pain; seek Quze (PC3), Tailing (PC7), and Zusanli (ST36). Shangwan (CV13) and Chongyang (ST42); Neiguan (PC6) and Gongsun (SP4) serve as master and guest needles.
For abdominal pain, puncture Chongyang (ST42). Zusanli (ST36), Weishu (BL21), and Taibai (SP3) are good. Zhigou (SJ6) and Zhangmen (LR13) remove constipation; Neiguan (PC6), Qihai (CV6), and Shangqiu (SP5) are appropriate.
Tailing (PC7) treats severe sha disease; Lieque (LU7), Weizhong (BL40), and Tianfu (LU3) relieve it. Baihui (GV20), Bailao (EX-B1), and Shixuan (EX-UE11) are wonderful; why worry about sha disease knotting in the chest and heart?
Houxi (SI3) needling treats head wind; Baihui (GV20), Fengchi (GB20), and Sizhukong (TE23). Hegu (LI4), Shangxing (GV23), and Zusanli (ST36); phlegm-resolving and qi-promoting via Zhongwan (CV12).
For external eye obstructions, first needle Xiaogu Kong (EX-HN4); Jingming (BL1), Hegu (LI4), and Taiyang (EX-HN5) are central. Do not forget Houxi (SI3) as the main point; Cuanzhu (BL2) and Fengchi (GB20) are all accessible.
For nasal obstruction (Bizi), seek Yingxiang (LI2) and Lieque (LU7) (Lieque connects Ren Mai, corresponding to Zhaohai); Shangxing (GV23), Fengfu (GV16), and Taiyuan (LU9) needled. If speaking of swollen tongue, Lianquan (CV23) is wonderful; Yuye and Jinjin beside the tongue root (Left Jinjin, Right Yuye are on the purple veins on both sides under the tongue, prick to bleed).
For toothache, Jiache (ST6) and Waiguan (TE5) are praised; Hegu (LI4), Taixi (KI3), and Ran Gu (KI2) correspond; Yifeng (TE17) and Ermen (TE21). For sudden deafness, Tinghui (GB2) and Qiayin (TE10) increase (ear sores discharging pus). For arm pain, take Shaoyang (SI1) and Waiguan (TE5); Jianyu (LI15), Hegu (LI4), and Quchi (LI11) are between. For gripping spasm, Quze (PC3) is appropriate; Zhongzhu (SJ3), Wangu (SI4), and Shaohai (HT3) are combined.
For edema of four limbs, Yinlingquan (SP9); Hegu (LI4), Zhongdu (LR7), and Zhongzhu (SJ3) are taken first. Xingjian (LR2), Neiting (ST44), and Quchi (LI11); Sanyinjiao (SP6) connects with Ye Men (TE2).
For leg pain, Huantiao (GB30) and Weizhong (BL40); Linqi (GB41) and Yanglingquan (GB34) can connect. Best are Dazhong (KI4) and Jinggu (BL64); Zhigou (SJ6) and Yangfu (GB38) attack the disease.
For penetrating wind-dampness, puncture Shangqiu (SP5); Qiuxu (GB40), Xi jie (ST41), and Zusanli (ST36) seek. Shenmai (BL62), Xingjian (LR2), and Kunlun (BL60); Zhaohai (KI6) and Linqi (GB41) rest the disease.
For knee wind, Taibai (SP3) and Fenglong (ST40); Xiyan (EX-LE2) and Liangqiu (ST34) needling can connect. Also Xiguan (EX-LE4) and Zusanli (ST34); Yin-Lingquan and Yang-Lingquan and Weizhong (BL40).
For lower back pain, Weizhong (BL40) and Chengshan (BL57) are suitable; Kunlun (BL60), Shugu (BL65), and Baihuan Shu (BL30) follow. Taixi (KI3), Yuan points, and Feiyang (BL58) network; when the middle vessel is like a needle, the disease is removed.
For seven types of hernia and running piglet, first take Dadun (LR1); Zhangmen (LR13) and Zhaohai (KI6) require discussion. Guilai (ST29), Ran Gu (KI2), and Taichong (LR3); Qihai (CV6), Guanyuan (CV4), and Lanmen (CV12).
For women's leukorrhea and irregular menstruation, Qihai (CV6), Baihuan Shu (BL30) (red and white discharge can be needled), and Zhongji (CV3) are cauterized. Shenshu (BL23), Guanyuan (CV4), and Zhaohai (KI6); Jianshi (PC5) and Sanyinjiao (SP6).
If childbirth is difficult for women, one reduction of Sanyinjiao (SP6) brings peace. Hegu (LI4) and Duyin (located in the transverse crease under the second toe of the foot) are taken in sequence; this surpasses formulas and immortality pills.
