Acupuncture and moxibustion methods for cough with phlegm: It is suitable to apply moxibustion to Tiantu (CV22) and Feishu (BL13) to drain fire-heat and reduce Lung Qi (Danxin). ○ For cough with rebellious Qi and frequent expectoration of cold phlegm, moxa on Feishu (BL13) fifty cones.
Another method: Moxa at the junction of black and white skin below both breasts, one hundred cones each side. ○ For cough with hoarse voice and sensation of throat rupture, moxa Tiantu (CV22) fifty cones (Defxiao). ○ Chronic asthma and cough preventing lying down at night, requiring warm vests even in summer, indicates Gaohuang disease; moxibustion leads to recovery (Zisheng). ○ For chronic cough, it is suitable to moxa Gaohuang (BL43), followed by Feishu (BL13) (Zisheng). ○ For urgent panting, moxa Feishu (BL13) eleven cones and Tiantu (CV22) seven cones (Defxiao). ○ For severe cough due to Cold Damage, moxa Tiantu (CV22) for immediate recovery (Zisheng). ○ For long-standing cough, moxa Zhigu point for recovery; if ineffective, the disease is incurable. Use cone size like a small bean, three cones, left side for males, right side for females (Yijian). ○ For asthma, moxa Feishu (BL13) and select Tiantu (CV22), Danzhong (CV17), Xuanji (CV15), Fushu (ST26), Rugen (ST18), Qihai (CV6) (Zisheng). ○ For panting, chest fullness, and solid phlegm like glue, select Taixi (KI3). ○ For cough and panting preventing lying down, select Yunmen (LU2) and Taiyuan (LU9) (Gangmu). ○ For cold-phlegm cough, select Lieque (LU7) (Gangmu). ○ For rebellious Qi causing hiccups, select Danzhong (CV17), Zhongwan (CV12), Feishu (BL13), Zusanli (ST36), Xingjian (LR2) (Gangmu). ○ For hiccups unresponsive to medication, moxa Zhongwan (CV12), Danzhong (CV17), Qimen (LR14) for certain efficacy (Gangmu). ○ For hiccups, moxa Guanyuan (CV4) seven cones for immediate recovery (Gangmu). ○ Another method: One finger-width below the nipple, directly aligned with the nipple, in the depression between ribs. For women, bend the nipple downwards to measure; the level with the nipple is the point. Use cone size like a small bean, three cones, left side for males, right side for females; recovery occurs when heat reaches the muscle. Alternatively, this point is located at the arterial pulse between the ribs below the breast (Defxiao). ○ For incessant cough and rebellion, moxa Rugen (ST18) two points for immediate cessation, as effective as a deity. Also moxa Qihai (CV6) five or seven cones below the navel for immediate cessation (Zhengchuan). ○ For lung distension with phlegm-cough preventing lying down, allowing only lateral sleeping: if sleeping on the left, moxa the right Zusanli (ST36); if sleeping on the right, moxa the left Zusanli (ST36) for immediate peace (Danxin).
Acupuncture and moxibustion methods for Ben Tun (running piglet syndrome), rebellious Qi, and heart pain nearing death: Urgently soak hands and feet in warm water, changing frequently. Simultaneously moxa Qihai (CV6), Guanyuan (CV4), Qimen (LR14), Zhangmen (LR13) one hundred cones each, and Zhongji (CV3) fifty cones (Defxiao). ○ For Jia masses, moxa Wanwanzhong behind the malleolus (Kunlun BL60 area) according to age-cones, plus moxa Qihai (CV6) one hundred cones and Zhongwan (CV12) two hundred cones (Defxiao). ○ For abdominal accumulations/masses, first needle the mass itself; for severe cases, needle the head and tail of the mass for immediate effect. After needling, apply moxibustion, and also moxa Zusanli (ST36) (Gangmu). ○ For accumulation disorders, select Zhongwan (CV12), Xuanshu (DU5), Pishu (BL20), Shangqu (ST22); tonify Chize (LU5) and Taixi (KI3) (Gangmu). ○ For Fuliang (abdominal mass), select Shangwan (CV13) and Zusanli (ST36). ○ For Xiben (lung accumulation), select Juque (CV14) and Qimen (LR14). ○ For Ben Tun, select Yuquan (i.e., Zhongji CV3) and Zhangmen (LR13) (Jia Yi). ○ For mass formations, select Zhangmen (LR13), Zhongwan (CV12), Qihai (CV6), Tianshu (ST25), Shangwan (CV13), Tonggu (BL29) (Gangmu). ○ Specifically treating痞块 (痞块 -痞块 refers to palpable masses/lumps), select Pigegen point. This point is located three cun and half lateral to the midline below the 13th thoracic vertebra. If on the left, moxa the right; if bilateral, moxa both sides. ○ Another method: Measure from the patient's great toe to the heel using a stalk. Align this length from the tip of the coccyx upwards. At the end of the stalk, mark one leek-leaf width to either side. Moxa the opposite side (left for right lesion, right for left lesion). Needle three fen, moxa seven cones, miraculous effect. ○ Another method: Moxa five to seven cones at the bifurcation of the second toe. Left lesion moxa right, right lesion moxa left. If effective, rumbling sounds will be felt in the abdomen after one night (Rumen).
