Anterior neck and posterior pharynx: The pharynx (throat for swallowing) is used to swallow food, while the larynx (throat for breathing) is used to receive air. The pharynx connects with the three epigastria to communicate with the stomach, thus serving for swallowing food; the larynx connects with the five zang organs to link with the lungs, thus serving to monitor qi. Qi, larynx, grain, and pharynx refer to these parts. If the fu organs are cold, it will cause the pharyngeal gate to rupture and the voice to become hoarse.
