The head has its own dimensions, and the abdomen has its own dimensions; horizontal and vertical measurements differ, each having its key points. Only the back and the limbs use *Tongshen Cun* (Same-Body Inch) for measurement.

From the anterior hairline to the posterior hairline is measured as 12 *Cun* (Chinese inches), equivalent to one chi. If the anterior hairline is unclear, measure 3 *Cun* upward from the midpoint between the eyebrows. If the posterior hairline is unclear, measure 3 *Cun* upward from *Dazhui* (GV14). If both hairlines are unclear, the total measurement is 18 *Cun*.

For horizontal measurements of the head: the distance from the inner canthus to the outer canthus is 1 *Cun*. The distance from *Shenting* (GV24) to *Qucha* (EX-HN4), from *Qucha* to *Benshen* (GB13), and from *Benshen* to *Touwei* (ST8) totals 4.5 *Cun*.

From *Dazhui* (GV14) downward to the coccyx, there are 21 vertebrae in total, measuring 3 chi. The upper 7 vertebrae: each measures 1.41 *Cun*, totaling 9.87 *Cun*. The middle 7 vertebrae: each measures 1.61 *Cun* (the 14th vertebra is level with the umbilicus, totaling 21.14 *Cun*). The lower 7 vertebrae: each measures 1.26 *Cun*.

The second row (paraspinal): 1.5 *Cun* on each side of the spine. Excluding the 1 *Cun* width of the spinous processes, the total is 4 *Cun*, distributed on both sides.

The third row (paraspinal): 3 *Cun* on each side of the spine. Excluding the 1 *Cun* width of the spinous processes, the total is 7 *Cun*, distributed on both sides.

From *Tiantu* (CV22) to *Danzhong* (CV17) is measured as 6.8 *Cun*. Moving down 1.6 *Cun* reaches *Zhongting* (CV12). From *Tiantu* to *Zhongting*, the total measurement is 8.4 *Cun*.

From below the xiphoid process (*Xinbigu*) to the umbilicus is 8 *Cun*. In individuals without a distinct xiphoid process, measure from the sternal angle (*Qigu*) to the center of the umbilicus, which is 9 *Cun*.

From the umbilicus to the pubic symphysis (hairline above the pubis) is 5 *Cun*.

For horizontal measurements of the chest and abdomen, the distance between the nipples is used as 8 *Cun*.

The head is the convergence point of all Yang meridians; therefore, it is said that the head does not suffer from cold-pain conditions. If needle therapy is desired, one should puncture the Yang meridians of the hands and feet, rather than needling the head directly. Why? Because acupuncture guides Qi. Needling the head may cause the Qi of all Yang meridians to stagnate in the head, making heat difficult to subside or potentially leading to unconsciousness. One must guide and drain the Qi of the Yang meridians of the limbs. Thus, it is said, "Stirring boiling water is less effective than removing the firewood." If Qi cannot be guided downward, or in cases of Phlegm-Jue headache, moxibustion on head acupoints is necessary for recovery. This is because Moxa is hot in nature; moxibustion disperses heat, while for cold conditions, it warms and harmonizes. When taken orally, herbs tend to ascend; moxibustion tends to descend. The Hand-Yang meridians run from the hand to the head, and the Foot-Yang meridians run from the head to the foot. The Foot-Yang Ming Stomach Meridian enters the upper teeth via facial collaterals, crosses the mouth, intersects at *Chengjiang* (CV24), descends before the chin to the ear, and follows the throat. The Hand-Yang Ming Large Intestine Meridian enters the lower teeth, crosses the mouth at *Renzhong* (GV26), crossing left to right and right to left, and ascends to flank the nostrils. Both Upper and Lower Yang Ming meridians flank the nostrils. To drain the Qi of the Yang meridians, first puncture *Baihui* (GV20), then guide the Yang heat downward, similar to opening the top hole of an inkstone dropper. If extreme heat prevents Qi from descending, tie a thin string around the neck so that the blood vessels in the forehead, temples, and midline become visible. Immediately pierce these collateral vessels with a three-edged needle and let the blood flow out like feces; this is highly effective. ○ This method differs greatly from the principle of "cherishing blood like gold," but it is a technique found in *Qi Xiao Liang Fang*. Elderly people should not bleed excessively, but bleeding therapy can be applied when appropriate.

For headaches, eye diseases, and red eyes, use only draining methods. For other conditions, use equal supplementation and drainage (Ping Bu Ping Xie).

Wind-cold transforming into heat occurs because Wind belongs to Wood, and Wood generates Fire.

For swelling of the head and eyes, fullness in the chest, hypochondrium, and limbs, and blood stasis in the elbow and *Xiangu* (ST41) points, excessive bleeding leads to immediate recovery.

For migraines and unbearable eye pain, select *Fengchi* (GB20), *Touwei* (ST8), and *Benshen* (GB13). Treat the left side for right-sided symptoms and vice versa. Retain the needles for ten breaths to guide Qi, resulting in immediate recovery and miraculous effects. ○ Moxa three cones on the arteries at the outer upper corners of both eyes for immediate effect.

For dark and sallow complexion, select *Xingjian* (LR2), *Zhongfeng* (LR4), *Shenshu* (BL23), *Ganshu* (BL18), *Chize* (LU5), *Hegu* (LI4), and *Xiasanli* (ST37).

For wind-dampness affecting the head and face, presenting within one or two days with redness, swelling resembling burns, protruding like a stick or described as "Run Tai" (severe swelling), spreading gradually, with faint breathing: urgently use a three-edged needle to randomly prick the affected area and the surrounding red halo, releasing numerous amounts of foul blood. The patient will revive within moments, and the complexion will return to normal. Observe the next day for any remaining swelling or new areas, and needle accordingly as the swelling appears. This is highly effective. One must adapt to the situation flexibly.
