Acupuncture and moxibustion methods for various phlegm-fluid retention diseases select Fenglong (ST40) and Zhongwan (CV12). ○ For phlegm-fluid retention in the chest accompanied by vomiting, regurgitation, and inability to eat, select Jueque (CV14) and Zusanli (ST36) (from *Gangmu*). ○ For overflow edema (Yi Yin), select Zhongwan (CV12) (from *Jia Yi Jing*). ○ For water qi stagnation in the Sanjiao causing loss of appetite, select Weidao (GB28), Zhongfeng (LR4), Shushu (BL21), and Shenshu (BL23) (from Li Dongyuan). ○ Diseases caused by phlegm-saliva are numerous and cannot be listed exhaustively; however, Lao Zhai (consumptive disease) with phlegm is the most difficult to treat. It is most suitable to apply moxibustion early on Gaohuang (BL43); when the number of moxa cones applied is large, there should be excretion. However, if the excretion resembles flowing water, it indicates that the phlegm has been expelled (from *Zisheng Jing*).
Acupuncture and moxibustion methods for irregular menstruation select Yinjiao (RN7), Zhongji (CV3), Sanyinjiao (SP6), Shenshu (BL23), and Qihai (CV6) (from *Gangmu*). ○ For amenorrhea, select Zhongji (CV3), Sanyinjiao (SP6), Shenshu (BL23), Hegu (LI4), Siman (ST25), and Zusanli (ST36). ○ For metrorrhagia and metrostaxis with continuous bleeding, select Xuehai (SP10), Yinggu (KI10), Sanyinjiao (SP6), Xingjian (LR2), Dachong (LR14), and Zhongji (CV3) (from *Gangmu*). ○ For red and white leukorrhea, select Zhongji (CV3), Shenshu (BL23), Qihai (CV6), Sanyinjiao (SP6), Zhangmen (LR13), and Xingjian (LR2). ○ Moxibustion on the Dai Mai point treats red and white leukorrhea remarkably: a female patient suffering from this condition reported feeling possessed by a ghost after moxibustion, who said, "If you burn me, I will leave," and she recovered shortly thereafter (from *Zisheng Jing*). ○ Cui Shi's Sihua points treat leukorrhea with miraculous effect (from *Gangmu*). ○ For red leukorrhea, select Zhongji (CV3), Qihai (CV6), and Weizhong (BL40). ○ For white leukorrhea, select Qugu (CV2), Chengyin (likely referring to Chengjiang CV24 or similar lower Ren vessel point, text says Chengyin), Zhongji (CV3) (from *Gangmu*). ○ For sudden severe metrorrhagia after long-term amenorrhea, select Fenglong (ST40), Shimen (CV5), Tianshu (ST25), Zhongwan (CV12), and Qihai (CV6) (from *Gangmu*).
Acupuncture and moxibustion treatment for bone-stealing fever and infectious consumption (Lao Zhai) should involve early moxibustion on Cui Shi's Sihua points (see Acupuncture section); late intervention is futile (from *Rumen*). ○ The Zhai worm resides between the lungs, eroding the lung system, thus causing hemoptysis and hoarseness. This is referred to as "above the Gao, below the Huang," where acupuncture cannot reach and medicine cannot cure. It is best to apply moxibustion early on Gaohuang (BL43), Feishu (BL13), and Sihua points (from *Rumen*). ○ To treat Lao Zhai, on the night of Guihai day at the third watch (midnight), when the Six Spirits gather, remove upper body clothing. Locate the "Waoyan" (waist eye) points, which are slight depressions on both sides of the waist. Stand upright and mark the spots with a pen. Then lie on the bed face down. Apply small moxa cones, seven moxibustion units per spot. If the worm is expelled via coughing or defecation, the patient is safe. This is called Yuxian Moxibustion (from *Defang*). ○ Mark the Waoyan points one day in advance. At midnight during the transition to the Guihai date, apply seven, nine, or eleven moxibustion units, which is especially effective. Burn the worms expelled through feces (from *Yijian*). ○ For bone-stealing fever and heat, moxibustion on Gaohuang (BL43) and Zusanli (ST36). ○ For Lao Zhai with bone-stealing fever or dry teeth, moxibustion on Dazhui (GV14) and Jiutui (CV15), fourteen units each. Also, Gaohuang (BL43), Feishu (BL13), Sihua, and Dazhui (GV14) points: if treated early, success rate is nearly 100%. ○ For infectious consumption (Chuan Shi Lao Zhai), needle Yongquan (KI1) three fen deep, using reducing method for six inhalations; presence of blood indicates treatability, absence indicates critical danger. Fenglong (ST40) for phlegm: needle one cun deep, reducing method for ten inhalations. Dantian (CV4 or BL23 depending on context, here likely CV4 or specific back-shu) for asthma: needle three fen deep, tonifying method for two exhalations (above from *Rumen*).
