In acupuncture methods for treating diseases caused by various evil influences, there are thirteen acupoints named as follows: 1. Guigong (Renzhong, GV26); 2. Guixin (located under the nail of the thumb, penetrating inward two fen); 3. Guilü (located under the nail of the great toe, penetrating inward two fen); 4. Guixin (Taoyuan, LU9); 5. Guilu (Shenmai, BL62); 6. Guizhen (located at Dazhui, GV14, one cun into the hairline); 7. Guichuang (located in the depression at the hairline anterior to the ear, five fen below the earlobe); 8. Guishi (Chengjiang, CV24); 9. Guilu (Laogong, PC8); 10. Guitang (Shangxing, GV23); 11. Guicang (located in the perineal fissure, specifically the clitoral glans in women); 12. Guichen (Quchi, LI11); 13. Guifeng (located in the sublingual frenulum, needling through to the dorsal surface of the tongue).
Furthermore, if madness is induced by demonic pathogens, moxibustion can be applied to the tips of the ten fingers, one fen away from the nails, named Guicheng (attributed to Bian Que).
To treat delirium, tremors, and lockjaw caused by demonic or fox-spirit possession, bind the patient's two thumbs together securely. Apply large moxa cones to the four junction points: the lateral corners of the thumbnails and the fleshy areas posterior to them. If any point is not ignited, the treatment is ineffective. After seven moxa cones (zhuang), the patient will plead with the spirit to leave, yielding miraculous results. This is Qin Chengzu’s "Moxibustion on Demons" method, also known as the Guiku (Crying Ghost) acupoints (from *Ru Men*).
For Wushi (Five Corpse) disease, moxibustion is applied three cun posterior to the nipple, on the left side for men and the right side for women, each receiving fourteen zhuang. Additionally, moxibustion is applied to the tips of both great toes, seven zhuang each (effective).
For all types of Zhu (wandering pestilence) diseases, have the patient lie supine. Moxibustion is applied obliquely downward three cun from the edge of both breasts, in the third intercostal space, with the number of zhuang corresponding to the patient's age (effective).
For sudden madness and speaking as if possessed by spirits, tightly bind the two thumbs together with a strap. Immediately moxibustion the two points opposite the flexed rib heads under the left and right costal margins, seven zhuang each. Shortly after, the spirit will state its name and beg to depart; inquire gently, then release the binding (effective).
For sudden invasion by evil spirits causing delirium, moxibustion is applied to Renzhong (GV26) below the nose, and to the proximal ends of the nails of the thumbs and great toes. The moxa cone should be half on the nail and half on the flesh, seven zhuang each per site; if symptoms persist, increase to fourteen zhuang (effective).
For sudden madness and speaking ghostly words, needling the area under the nail of the great toe stops the condition (effective).
For fox-spirit possession, bind the two thumbs together and moxibustion Hegu (LI4) for twenty-one zhuang (three sevens). When the sound of a fox is heard, the illness will heal (effective).
