Take one sheng of fresh Rehmanniae Radix juice, mix with three he of wine, warm slightly, and take in one dose. (From *Waitai Mi Yao*, Vol. 34)
Formula for treating postpartum chest oppression and inability to open the eyes.
Immediately take hair from the top of the head, about the width of two fingers, and pull it forcefully; the eyes will then open. (From *Yixin Fang*, Vol. 23)
Gualou Decoction for treating postpartum thirst.
Trichosanthis Fructus (4 liang), Ophiopogonis Radix (heart removed), Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma (each 3 liang), dried Rehmanniae Radix (3 liang), Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (2 liang, honey-fried), dried Zizyphi Fructus (20 pieces).
The above seven ingredients are chopped, boiled in eight sheng of water until two and a half sheng remain, divided into three doses. Effective. (From *Waitai Mi Yao*, Vol. 34)
For treating wind-stroke after childbirth, cold damage cough, with excessive sticky phlegm.
Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, Platycodonis Radix (each 6 fen), Distanthermae Flos (4 fen), fresh Ophiopogonis Radix, fresh Rehmanniae Radix (each 12 fen), scallion white (one handful), fermented soybean (shi) (appropriate amount).
Boil the above ingredients in two sheng of water until eight he remain. Take two doses after meals, after some time has passed. (From *Chanbao*, Vol. Down)
For treating wind-stroke after childbirth, characterized by opisthotonos and limb convulsions, Yingxiao Rusheng San is effective immediately.
Powdered Schizonepetae Spica, taken with wine, two qian, is certain to be effective. (From *Zhenglei Bencao*, Vol. 28)
Dayanmi Tang, for treating postpartum heart pain.
Dried Rehmanniae Radix, Angelicae Sinensis Radix, Angelicae Pubescentis Radix, Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, Paeoniae Radix Alba, Cinnamomi Cortex (Guixin), Xinyi (Xiaocao), Asari Radix et Rhizoma (each 1 liang), Evodiae Fructus (1 sheng), Zingiberis Rhizoma (dried) (3 [liang]).
The above ten ingredients are chopped, boiled in nine sheng of water until three sheng remain, divided into three doses. Effective. (From *Waitai Mi Yao*, Vol. 34)
Formula for treating postpartum abdominal pain.
One jin of Angelicae Sinensis Radix, chopped, boiled in one dou of wine until seven sheng remain. Simultaneously, stir-fry four sheng of soybeans, wash them hot with wine, remove the dregs, and consume the hot beans and wine according to tolerance, twice daily. (From *Yixin Fang*, Vol. 23)
Formula for treating postpartum exhaustion of body fluids and dryness, resulting in obstruction of urination and defecation.
Paeoniae Radix Alba, Rhei Radix et Rhizoma, Aurantii Fructus, Cannabis Semen (crushed, each 2 liang).
Grind the above into powder, mix with refined honey to make pills the size of Sophora japonica seeds. Take twenty pills on an empty stomach with cooked water, gradually increasing the dose until bowel movement is achieved. (From *Chanbao*, Vol. Down)
Formula for treating postpartum constipation and obstruction of urination and defecation.
Use equal parts of Peach Flower, Abelmoschi Semen, Talcum, and Arecae Semen. Grind into powder. Take two qian on an empty stomach with decoction of scallion white to induce bowel movement. (From *Bencao Gangmu*, Vol. 29)
Formula for treating postpartum fecal incontinence without awareness of evacuation.
Ampelopsis Radix, Paeoniae Radix Alba (each 2 fen).
Grind the above two ingredients into a powder. Take one fangcun bi with wine. (From *Waitai Mi Yao*, Vol. 34)
Formula for treating postpartum fecal incontinence.
Calcined Alum and calcined Oyster Shell, in equal amounts, sifted into powder. Take one fangcun with wine, three times daily. This formula also treats men. (From *Waitai Mi Yao*, Vol. 34)
Formula for treating urinary incontinence in women.
Two liang of Alum, calcined until boiling and sweat is exhausted; two liang of Oyster Shell meat, sifted into powder. Take one fangcun bi with wine, three times daily. (From *Yixin Fang*, Vol. 21)
