Jiechang Wan (Colon Pill), a formula for treating continuous lower discharge due to heat-toxin, effective regardless of whether the condition is chronic or acute.
Sophorae Flavescentis Radix (Kushen), Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium (Juapi), Angelicae Pubescentis Radix (Duhuo), Asini Corii Colla (Ejiao, prepared), Paeoniae Radix Alba (Shaoyao), Zingiberis Rhizoma干燥 (Ganjiang), Phellodendri Cortex (Huangbai), Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (Gancao, prepared), Daphnes Genkwa Flos (Guijiu) (each 4 fen).

The above four ingredients are cut, boiled in eight sheng of water until reduced to three sheng, and strained. Take one sheng warm, three times daily and once at night. If there are pulsations above the navel indicating kidney qi agitation, remove Baizhu and add Guixin (Cinnamon Heart, 4 liang); if vomiting is excessive, remove Baizhu and add Shengjiang (Fresh Ginger, 3 liang); if diarrhea is excessive, reuse Baizhu; if palpitations occur, add Poria (Fuling, 2 liang); if there was previous thirst and preference for drinking water, add Baizhu to total 4.5 liang; if abdominal pain occurs, add Renshen to total 4.5 liang; if aversion to cold occurs, add Ganjiang to total 4.5 liang; if abdominal fullness occurs, remove Baizhu and add one Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata (Fuzi, processed, peeled, broken into six pieces). After taking the decoction, wait about the time of one meal, then drink about one sheng of hot porridge until slight sweating occurs and warmth returns; do not uncover clothes or blankets. For Huoluan, gu poison (parasitic/toxic disease), retained food, heart/abdominal pain, and cold qi/ghost qi.
Three sheng of very salty saline solution, single ingredient, for sudden heart/abdominal pain in Huoluan. For retained food not digesting, accumulation of cold, irritability, and fullness, drink one sheng hot, stimulate the throat with fingers to induce vomiting of retained food until empty. If not empty, induce again. Drink after vomiting. Repeat three times until calm. This method surpasses all other medicines. Common people consider it a rustic, shallow method and disdain its use, preferring death. In such cases, use this method first. (Wai Tai Mi Yao, Vol. 6)
