Formulas for Treating Sores and Ulcers:
A formula for treating sores:
Take one sheng (approx. 200ml) of vinegar, heat until boiling, add a handful of raw Chinese chives (Allium tuberosum), apply to the affected area, and it will heal. (Cited from *Waitai Miyao*, Vol. 30)
Another formula:
Realgar (Xionghuang, 1 liang), Scutellaria Root (Huangqin, 2 liang), Pine Resin (Songzhi, 2 liang), Ash of Human Hair (Fahui, size of a bean).
Pulverize the above four ingredients, mix with animal fat (Baigao) and pine resin, grind together, and apply to the sore. (Cited from *Waitai Miyao*, Vol. 30)
Yet another formula:
Tangled hair (Luankou) and head grease (Tougou) in equal parts, twenty shells of snail (Luoke), calcined, mixed with lard from the twelfth lunar month (Layue Zhizhi) into a paste, and applied. (Cited from *Waitai Miyao*, Vol. 30)
Yet another formula:
Rhododendron Flower (Danzhixiehua, 3 sheng), soaked in water for half a month, strain the residue, and wash the sore with the juice. Another method is to roast the flower and apply it to the sore; parasites should emerge. (Cited from *Waitai Miyao*, Vol. 30)
Yet another formula:
Peach Blossom (Taohua) and salt in equal parts, pounded thoroughly, mixed with vinegar, and applied. (Cited from *Waitai Miyao*, Vol. 30)
Yet another formula:
Soap Bean Pod (Zaoying, 10 pieces), boiled in four sheng of vinegar, strain the residue, boil down to a consistency like malt syrup, and apply to the sore. (Cited from *Waitai Miyao*, Vol. 30)
Yet another formula:
One new clay pot, place one he (approx. 50g) of chicken feces (Jishi), decoct with wine into a plaster, and apply. (Cited from *Waitai Miyao*, Vol. 30)
Yet another formula:

Mix the above four ingredients into a paste, apply, and reapply when dry. (Cited from *Waitai Miyao*, Vol. 30)
Formula for Li Lu Paste (Veratrum Paste) for treating various chronic sores persisting for years, as well as "Shou Fu Ju" (sores on hands/feet), where itching increases daily without healing, and long-standing sores produce "ju worms."
Veratrum (Lilu, 6 fen), Coptis Rhizome (Huanglian, 8 fen), Alum (Fanshi, boiled until liquid evaporates), Pine Resin (Songzhi), Realgar (Xionghuang, ground, 8 fen), Sophora Root (Kushen, 6 fen).
Pulverize the above six ingredients, sift through thick silk gauze, decoct in two sheng of pork lard, wait for the paste to form, strain out residues, add powdered Realgar and Alum, stir to mix evenly, let coagulate, and apply. This formula treats all chronic sores persisting for years, or those that ooze fluid upon scratching without forming scabs, and against which all other medicines have failed. It is also effective for scabies and head sores.
*Definitions:*
- Re Chuang (Heat Sore): A sore that produces white pus immediately upon formation.
- Huang Lan Chuang (Yellow Rotting Sore): A shallow sore that only exudes yellow fluid, similar to Favus (Fei Chuang).
- Qin Yin Chuang (Infiltrating Sore): A superficial sore with yellow exudate, which spreads continuously upon scratching.
- Gan Chuang (Gan Sore): Prefers to occur on opposing surfaces of hands and feet, causing painful cracking due to pain and itching, and tends to heal in spring and summer. (Cited from *Waitai Miyao*, Vol. 30, Formulas for Scabies)
Pound the root of Chinese Tatarian Starflower (Yangti Gen), mix with pork lard and apply; adding a little salt is better. (Cited from *Waitai Miyao*, Vol. 30)

Salvia Miltiorrhiza Root (Danshen, 4 liang), Sophora Root (Kushen, 4 liang), Cnidium Fruit (Shechuangzi, 1 sheng).
Chop the above three ingredients, decoct in six sheng of water, use to wash the scabies sores, and dust the body with the powder. Do this twice a day, and it will heal. (Cited from *Waitai Miyao*, Vol. 30)
Decoction for Treating Scabies:
Sichuan Pepper (Shujiao, 4 he), decoct in ten dou of water for three boils, strain, and wash the scabies while warm. (Cited from *Ishinpō*, Vol. 17)
Another formula:
Hemp Seed (Dama Zi, 1 sheng), pound until broken, boil into a porridge-like consistency, add one jin of yeast/qu (Qu), and apply. This is best for treating equine scabies. (Cited from *Ishinpō*, Vol. 17)
Formula for Treating Leprosy Ulcers (Li Yang):
Grind Sulfur (Liuhuang) with vinegar on the bottom of a clay bowl until it forms a mud-like paste. Take an Aconite Root (Fuzi), cut off one end, and grind sulfur onto it to generate heat. Before sleeping, wipe the ulcerated area several times with a cloth, then apply the medicine; it will heal. (Cited from *Waitai Miyao*, Vol. 15)
Another formula:
Sulfur (Liuhuang, ground), Alum (Fanshi, ground), Mercury (Shuiyin, separately ground and mixed), Chimney Soot (Zaomo).
Take equal parts of the above four ingredients, pulverize and sift, place in a bowl, mix and grind with juice from green onion leaves (Cong Ye Zhong Ti), and apply to the lesion before going to bed. (Cited from *Waitai Miyao*, Vol. 15)
