There are five types of diseases to treat. If flesh grows around the anus like a rat's teat protruding outside the orifice, with frequent discharge of pus and blood, it is called *Mu Zhi* (Male Hemorrhoids); if there is swelling, pain, and ulceration around the anus, it is called *Jiu Zhi* (Alcohol Hemorrhoids); if there are nodules around the anus causing pain accompanied by chills and fever, it is called *Chang Zhi* (Intestinal Hemorrhoids); if defecation is always accompanied by fresh bleeding, it is called *Xue Zhi* (Blood Hemorrhoids); if defecation is difficult and the anus prolapses and fails to retract for a long time, it is called *Qi Zhi* (Qi Hemorrhoids). These conditions arise from sitting in cold and dampness, irregular sexual activity, or excessive drinking and overeating. Although they may not cause immediate severe harm, if left untreated for a long time, they will eventually afflict the person. There are other major prescriptions available; the current single prescription is also convenient and practical. Apply according to this method. (From *Waitai Miyao*, Vol. 26)
To treat the five types of hemorrhoids: For *Qi Zhi*, which flares up due to cold-dampness and fatigue, use snake skin (*Shetui*) as the main treatment; for *Mu Zhi*, where flesh grows like a rat's teat inside the orifice and protrudes outward, interfering with defecation, use turtle shell (*Biejia*) as the main treatment; for *Pin Zhi* (Female Hemorrhoids), which swells outward from the orifice and spontaneously ruptures after five to six days discharging pus and blood, use [missing character] skin as the main treatment; for *Chang Zhi*, which prolapses during defecation. The aforementioned main medicines should all be sifted into powder. Mix equal parts, then double the amount of the specific main medicine for each condition to create three portions. Take one *fangcunbi* (a traditional Chinese measuring spoon) with well water in the morning. For severe cases, take twice daily (morning and evening), or up to four or five doses. Only consume dry white meat. After recovery, abstain from sexual activity for one hundred days. Additionally, insert medication into the lower part; if there is an ulcer, insert it into the ulcer; if no ulcer... (Text fragment missing here)
Another prescription:
*Yege* (Caulis Akebiae, powdered)
Take one unit of the above ingredient using a *daogui* (ancient measuring tool) and mix with medicine to take orally. Symptoms improve within five days, and cure occurs within twenty to thirty days. (From *Waitai Miyao*, Vol. 26)
Another prescription:
Boil root of Sophora japonica (*Huagen*) and wash the area. (From *Waitai Miyao*, Vol. 26)
Another prescription:
Boil root of peach tree (*Taogen*) and wash the area. (From *Waitai Miyao*, Vol. 26)
Prescription for treating the five types of hemorrhoids, regardless of duration or novelty.
Grind *Zhishi* (Fructus Aurantii Immaturus) into powder, make pills with refined honey the size of paulownia seeds. Take twenty pills on an empty stomach with warm water. (From *Zhenglei Bencao*, Vol. 13)
*Wuzhi San* (Five Hemorrhoids Powder): Mainly treats fatigue and injury in alcohol drinkers, and bleeding from the lower orifices.
*Chixiaodou* (Semen Phaseoli Radiati, 4 fen, roasted) *Huangqi* (Radix Astragali, 3 fen) *Fuzi* (Radix Aconiti Lateralis Preparata, wrapped) *Bailian* (Rhizoma Belamcandae) *Guixin* (Cortex Cinnamomi, 1 fen each) *Shaoyao* (Radix Paeoniae Alba/Rubra) *Huangqin* (Radix Scutellariae, 2 fen each)
Crush the above seven ingredients into a powder. Take one *fangcunbi* with wine, three times a day. Highly effective for stopping bleeding. (From *Waitai Miyao*, Vol. 26)
*Zishen Wan* (Purple Ginseng Pill): Treats the five types of hemorrhoids with fresh blood flowing from the anus during defecation. For cases that do not heal, taking this pill ensures recovery.
*Zishen* (Radix Codonopsis/Pseudostellaria - note: context suggests specific herb, often Radix Codonopsis or similar in ancient texts, but literally Purple Ginseng) *Qinjiao* (Radix Gentianae Macrophyllae) *Luancha Hui* (Ash of tangled hair) *Ziwan* (Radix Asteris) *Houpo* (Cortex Magnoliae Officinalis, prepared, 1 liang each) *Gaoben* (Radix Ligustici Chuanxiong) (2 liang) *Leiwang* (Sclerotium Polypori) (0.5 sheng) *Baizhi* (Radix Angelicae Dahuricae, 1 liang) *Tiechong* (Asiatic Ground Beetle, 0.5 liang, roasted) *Guanzhong* (Rhizoma Cyrtomii) (3 liang, de-haired) *Zhuhou Xuantijia* (Hoof nail of pig's hind leg, 14 pieces, roasted) *Mengchong* (Blue Bottle Fly Larva, 0.5 liang, de-winged and de-footed, roasted) *Shinan* (Folium Nandinae) (0.5...)
Grind the above thirteen ingredients into powder. Simmer marrow from sheep spine and lard (each 0.5 sheng) together. Mix with the powder to form pills the size of wu zi (paulownia seeds). Take fifteen pills with wine before meals, twice a day. Can also be taken with water. For severe cases, take once at night. Itching around the anus stops in four days, pus and blood cease in eight days, and rat-teat-like growths heal completely. After sixty days, recurrence is lifelong prevented; long-term use is beneficial. A case of eighteen-year hemorrhoid disease with three-cun prolapse was cured by this formula; it also treats rectal prolapse. In cases of heat, sheep marrow can be replaced with red honey. (From *Waitai Miyao*, Vol. 26)
