Lei Gong stated: When using (Ning Shui Shi / Congealed Water Stone), it must first be boiled in fresh ginger juice until the juice is completely absorbed, then ground into powder for use.
For every ten taels of material processed, one yi of ginger juice is used.
Lei Gong stated: At that time, it was called Mi Tuo Seng.
When using Mi Tuo Seng, crush it into fine powder, place it in a porcelain crucible, and prepare it. Then, fill a heavy paper bag with dried willow bark powder, place the Mi Tuo Seng crucible inside, add running water from the east until full, and boil over fire for one shi (two hours). After sufficient boiling, remove the willow powder and paper bag, and use the processed Mi Tuo Seng.
Lei Gong stated: After harvesting, remove the core, take the Huang Jing (Polygonatum Rhizome), finely slice it with a bamboo knife, mix it, and steam together from Si hour to Hai hour. Remove the Huang Jing, take it out, dry it in the shade, and use it.
Lei Gong stated: When using Gua Lou (Trichosanthes Fruit), the effects of its peel, seed, stem, and root are all different. The characteristics of "Gua" and "Lou" are entirely distinct. If it is "Gua", it is naturally round, yellow, has thick skin, and a small stalk; if it is "Lou", it is elongated, has red skin, and a thick stalk, which is intended for female consumption.
If processing, remove the outer shell, leather-like membrane, and oil.
Lei Gong stated: When using the root of Gua Lou, wait until it is two or three cun in circumference, remove the skin, crush it finely, make a decoction, stir to extract the juice, freeze it, and drink it as desired.
Lei Gong stated: When using (the unnamed herb), regardless of quantity, first soak it overnight in thick rice washing water. Any fishy or foul odor floating on the surface must be thoroughly washed away repeatedly. Then steam it from Si hour to Shen hour, take it out, dry it in the sun, finely chop it, and use it.
Lei Gong stated: When using (the unnamed herb, likely Bai He/Lily Bulb), first remove dust and about one fen of the hard tip. Soak in wine overnight.
If blood-breaking effect is needed, use the hard upper section; if pain-relieving and hemostatic effects are needed, use the tail; if both are needed simultaneously, it is better not to use it, as taking it together would be ineffective; using them separately is superior.
Lei Gong stated: When using (the unnamed herb, likely Zhu Ru/Bamboo Shavings), remove the nodes and foam. If not removed completely, ingestion causes dizziness.
For processing, use shears to cut off the nodes and tips on a locust wood cutting board. Finely chop with a copper knife, boil thirty to forty times, use a bamboo piece to skim off all foam from the surface, strain out, dry in the sun, and use.
Lei Gong stated: After harvesting, dry it in the sun. Scrape off the rough outer skin and soil from the head with a bamboo knife, chop it, mix with honey water, steam from Si hour to Wei hour, dry in the sun, and use.
