In the area of the waist eyes (lumbosacral region), a carbuncle toxin suddenly appears, causing severe pain and loud cries, resembling a Yang syndrome. However, the waist and kidney region is an area of extreme Yin, so it cannot be treated as a Yang carbuncle. Conversely, treating it entirely as a Yin syndrome is also incorrect. This condition originates from excessive retention of essence (forced suppression of ejaculation), where the desire to release is suppressed, leading to the formation of this toxin. It seems purely to be a fault of the Yin aspect. Yet, since the waist is close to the kidneys, if Kidney Fire erupts to form toxins, there is Yang within Yin, and it cannot be treated solely by methods for Yin syndromes. One must treat both Yin and Yang simultaneously to resolve the toxin, so that the toxin is removed as easily as sweeping. If one does not tonify Yin but only treats the toxin, the Kidney Qi will be further damaged, and the toxin will be difficult to resolve quickly. This is because tonifying Yin without tonifying Yang means Yin cannot generate without Yang; thus, the toxin remains deeply hidden in the Palace of the Kidneys and cannot be excreted outward. However, by treating both Yin and Yang, the Qi of the waist and kidneys becomes smooth, making it easy to achieve efficacy. The prescription used is Liangzhi Tang (Two-Way Treatment Decoction): Eucommiae Cortex (Duzhong, 1 liang), Angelicae Sinensis Radix (Danggui, 1 liang), Atractodis Rhizoma (Baizhu, 1 liang), Stephaniae Tetrandrae Radix (Fangji, 3 qian), Smilacis Glabrae Rhizoma (Baxie, 3 qian), Lonicerae Japonicae Flos (Jinyinhua, 3 liang), Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (Gancao, 3 qian). Decoct in water and take orally. Symptoms lighten after one dose, pain stops after two doses, and recovery occurs after three doses. This formula uses Baizhu and Duzhong to facilitate the flow of Qi in the waist and umbilical region; when Qi flows smoothly, the toxin naturally struggles to consolidate. Additionally, herbs like Jinyinhua and Danggui provide dispersion within tonification; while Fangji and Baxie enter the Palace of the Kidneys directly to expel accumulated heat toxins. Thus, there is no risk of Yin-Yang imbalance, Zheng Qi (Upright Qi) is assisted, and Xie Qi (Evil Qi) does not contend, naturally achieving success in three doses.
Secret Formula:
For lumbar carbuncles, Liangzhi Tang is essential; add 1 liang each of Duzhong, Danggui, and Baizhu.
Add 3 qian each of Fangji and Gancao, and decoct together with 3 liang of Jinyinhua.
The Jiuling Dan (Nine-Spirit Pill) is also effective for this condition:
Rehmanniae Radix Preparata (Shengdi, 5 qian), Moutan Cortex (Danpi, 5 qian), Schizonepetae Spica Nigra (Hei Jingjie, 3 qian), Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (Gancao, 3 qian), Saposhnikoviae Radix (Fangfeng, 1 qian), Viola Yedoensis Herba (Zihuadiding, 1 liang), Corni Fructus (Shanyu, 1 liang), Stir-fried Atractodis Rhizoma (Chao Baizhu, 2 liang), Rehmanniae Radix Preparata (Shudi, 2 liang).
Decoct in water and take orally. Efficacy is seen after continuous administration for two doses.
Secret Formula:
There is also Jiuling Dan for lumbar carbuncles, with Shengdi and Danpi at 5 qian each.
Hei Jingjie and Gancao at 3 qian each, Fangfeng at 1 qian, plus 1 liang each of Zihuadiding and Shanyu.
Only Jiaozhu (Charred Baizhu) and Shudi are 2 liang each; taking continuously for two doses yields effects like a fairy's.
