Huangdi asked Qibo, saying: "Young children are often afflicted by severe diseases. Dan Du (erysipelas/toxic heat) is divided into two categories; how can they be distinguished?" Qibo replied: "Yang Jie (a disease name) persists for a hundred years. Those over ten years of age are termed 'Du' (toxin), while those under ten are termed 'Dan' (erysipelas). Dan and Du are essentially the same. Treatment should be differentiated according to the size of the lesion. If the corresponding formula is used, there will be no error. It is said that men and women alike suffer from Dan Du; if one relies on this method, how many would have died in vain? This is largely due to believing the words of unorthodox practitioners and being overcome by fear. Do not attempt treatment on ignorant people; please use the correct formulas as follows. The shapes of these conditions are illustrated below."
Yifang Huo Dan (Fire Erysipelas) begins from both hypochondriac regions.
Shenzao Dan (Divine Stove Erysipelas) begins from the abdomen.
Niaozao Dan (Urine Stove Erysipelas) begins from the ankle.
Huchui Zao Dan (Blowing Stove Erysipelas) begins from above the scrotum.
Tianhuo Dan (Heavenly Fire Erysipelas) begins from the abdomen, back, and spreads over the whole body.
Tianlei Dan (Heavenly Thunder Erysipelas) begins from the top of the head.
Lianhuo Dan (Smelting Fire Erysipelas) begins from the dorsal scapular region (Formula missing).
Hulou Zao Dan (Leaking Stove Erysipelas) begins from the center of the umbilicus.
Feizao Dan (Abandoned Stove Erysipelas) begins from the flexor aspect of the arm.
Shenqi Dan (Divine Qi Erysipelas) begins from the neck and occiput.
Tuzao Dan (Earth Stove Erysipelas) begins from the medial malleolus.
Zhuhuang Dan (Vermilion Yellow Erysipelas) appears bean-red in color and spreads over the whole body.
Yinghuo Dan (Firefly Fire Erysipelas) begins from the ear.
Yezao Dan (Wild Stove Erysipelas) begins from the spinal column.
Guohuo Dan (Ghost Fire Erysipelas) begins from the face.

For Tianlei Dan beginning from the top of the head:
Apply finely ground dried Scallion Rhizoma mixed with Chishizhi (Red Halloysite/Hematite). Alternatively, apply soil from under the stove mixed with egg white.
For Hulou Zao Dan beginning from the center of the umbilicus:
