[Open-Ge Fish]
For patients suffering from Ge syndrome (a condition characterized by obstruction in the chest and diaphragm, making swallowing difficult), take one large black carp. Remove the internal organs and clean it thoroughly. Stuff the fish belly full of garlic cloves, tie it tightly, and boil until cooked. Let the patient eat their fill. Do not add salt or vinegar. Even in cases of Gu Ge (severe food stagnation due to parasites or blood stasis), recovery can be achieved.
[Pearl Powder]
To treat Tan Ge (obstruction of the chest and diaphragm due to phlegm turbidity), take small purple shells, burn them until they retain their properties (charred but retaining efficacy), and grind into a fine powder. Use two taels of this powder mixed with three taels of stir-fried rice powder, and consume it blended with white sugar.
Divine Formula for Securing Mother and Child During Birth
This formula was received from an extraordinary person. It is specifically used to treat difficult labor, transverse presentation, breech presentation, and even cases where the fetus has not been delivered after six or seven days. It is also effective when the infant has died in the womb and the mother's life is in imminent danger. Upon administration, delivery occurs immediately, securing the lives of both mother and child. For all types of difficult birth conditions, midwives must strictly avoid using manual manipulation; only administer this medicine, and the situation will resolve safely without harm. If, three to five days before the expected delivery date, the woman feels restless while walking or sitting, take one dose in advance. Take another dose upon the onset of labor. This ensures absolute safety and peace of mind. It also treats syncope due to blood loss, prolapse of the yin, miscarriage, and disturbance of fetal qi caused by trauma. This medicine has proven effective repeatedly, saving countless lives.
Chuan Bei Mu (Fritillariae Bulbus, heart removed, 1 qian) Sheng Huang Qi (Astragali Radix) Jing Jie Sui (Schizonepetae Spica, each 8 fen) Jin Ai (Artemisiae Folium variant) Hou Po (Magnoliae Officinalis Cortex, stir-fried with ginger juice, each 7 fen) Zhi Qiao (Aurantii Fructus, pith removed, 6 fen) Chuan Qiang Huo (Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix) Gan Cao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, each 5 fen) Bai Shao (Paeoniae Radix Alba, stir-fried, 1.2 qian; use only 1 qian in winter)
Add two zhong of water and three slices of fresh ginger. Decoct until reduced to eight fen. For preventive use, take on an empty stomach. For use during labor, take as needed. Dosages must be precise.
Essential Xiong Gui Formula Postpartum
Administer one dose of this medicine after childbirth to expel lochia (stagnant blood), relieve abdominal pain, and eliminate various gynecological disorders.
Dang Gui Wei (Angelicae Sinensis Radix tail, 5 qian) Chuan Xiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma) Shan Zha (Crataegi Fructus) Hong Hua (Carthami Flos, each 4 qian)
Decoct in water to obtain one zhong. After delivery, help the woman sit up on the bed and administer hot immediately. Pregnant women near term should prepare this medicine and store it in ceramic jars to prevent the loss of medicinal vapor. This makes it convenient for nighttime emergency use. The dregs can be decocted again, allowed to stand for one shichen (two hours), and then consumed.
Miraculous Formula for Mild Smallpox
One month before Lichun (Start of Spring), take seven chicken eggs, place them in a hemp cloth bag, hang them securely, and immerse them in a feces bucket (using thick manure). Soak for one month. Remove the eggs, discard the bag, do not wash the eggs, and bury them in the soil for three days (ensure no one steps on and breaks them). On the morning of Lichun, boil three eggs in a ceramic pot (cook until soft-centered for easier consumption by children). Eat two at noon and two in the afternoon. Intake should be gradual to avoid overfilling the stomach. Ideally, finish all within one day. For smaller infants, one or two eggs are sufficient. After three years of age, those with heavy toxin accumulation will have mild smallpox symptoms, while those with light toxin may not develop them at all. According to TCM theory, smallpox originates from congenital toxins inherited from parents, which are unavoidable. The method of soaking in feces eliminates acquired toxins, while burial in soil nourishes innate qi. Taking this on Lichun, when all things revive, naturally leads to toxin dissipation and milder smallpox. Do not disregard this due to its perceived filthiness.
Secretly Transmitted Fei Er Pill (Also Suitable for Adults)
Received from an extraordinary source and verified by more than ten renowned physicians, this formula specifically treats pediatric conditions such as distended abdomen with visible veins, emaciation, dry and brittle hair, dysentery, and gan heat (chronic malnutrition fever). It transforms the thin and weak into fat and strong, with miraculous efficacy. My two sons suffered from weakness due to illness and were cured by this medicine. I shall not keep it secret but will disseminate it widely.
Bai Zhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma, stir-fried with earth) Jian Lian (Nelumbinis Semen) Shan Yao (Dioscoreae Rhizoma) Shan Zha Rou (Crataegi Fructus flesh, each 1.5 liang) Qian Shi (Euryales Semen) Bai Fu Ling (Poria, each 1 liang; the above five herbs should be steamed and sun-dried over rice two or three times) Shen Qu (Massa Medicata Fermentata) Bai Shao (Paeoniae Radix Alba, wine-stir-fried) Bai Se Da Gu Chong (White large grain worm, each 5 qian) Chen Pi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium) Ze Xie (Alismatis Rhizoma, each 4 qian) Gan Cao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, 3 qian). If emaciation has progressed to gan syndrome, add Lu Hui (Aloe, 3 qian). For abdominal diarrhea, add Rou Dou Kou (Myristicae Semen, baked in flour, 3 qian). For internal heat, dry mouth, and constipation, add Chuan Huang Lian (Coptidis Rhizoma, ginger juice-stir-fried, 3 qian). For external heat, add Chai Hu (Bupleuri Radix, 3 qian). For bone-steaming fever, add Di Gu Pi (Lycii Cortex, 5 qian). For intestinal parasites, add Fei Zi Rou (Torreya Seed flesh, stir-fried, 2 qian). For abdominal distension, watery stool, and borborygmus, add Bing Lang (Arecae Semen, 5 fen) Mu Xiang (Aucklandiae Radix, 1 qian).
Grind all ingredients into a fine powder. Mix with refined honey to form pills the size of quail eggs. Take 3–4 qian with rice broth on an empty stomach. This medicine is not very bitter and can be taken regularly. If diarrhea is present, do not make honey pills; instead, prepare as a powder, store in a ceramic jar to preserve potency, and mix with rice broth for administration. A small amount of white sugar may be added if desired.
