This is ordinary vomiting and diarrhea. If it is vomiting and diarrhea caused by summer-heat that does not stop, treat it urgently according to the Cholera section in Volume 15. Decoct camphor wood (Cinnamomum camphora) in water and take it; it stops immediately, tested repeatedly with miraculous efficacy.
Another prescription: Crush Chinese chive (Allium tuberosum) to extract juice, warm it by steaming in a double boiler, and take it while slightly warm; it is extremely effective.
Another prescription: Take one preserved salted plum (Prunus mume), roast it on a tile until charred. Add one large slice of fresh ginger (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens), decoct them together, and take the mixture; it has been tested repeatedly with miraculous results.
Another prescription: A patient suffered from abdominal pain, upper vomiting, and lower diarrhea. He took Liuhe Tang (Six-Harmony Decoction), Huoxiang Zhengqi San (Agastache Powder for Regulating Qi), Pingwei San (Stomach-Calming Powder), and Lizhong Tang (Center-Regulating Decoction), but none were effective. Recalling the statement in the *Shanghan Lun* (Treatise on Cold Damage): "Heat in the chest causes vomiting, cold in the stomach causes abdominal pain," he used Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma processed with Evodiae Fructus), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix), Sheng Baishao (Paeoniae Radix Alba), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma), Dangshen (Codonopsis Radix), Ganjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma), Fa Banxia (Pinelliae Rhizoma Preparatum), Chenpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium), and Yunling (Poria), which cured him upon decoction and ingestion.
Another prescription: For infants with persistent vomiting and diarrhea, decoct an old rusty iron nail in water and drink it; it stops immediately upon entering the mouth.
After eating for one or two days, someone vomits everything up, and the vomitus smells sour. All medicines fail. This condition is called Stomach Sac Syndrome (Weinang Zheng). It arises beside the stomach, shaped like a sac. All food and drink enter this sac. Even after feeling full, the abdomen remains hungry because this obstruction prevents food from entering the true stomach cavity. In the early stage, vomiting occurs once every one to two days; the vomited food has no odor, meat digests, but rice does not. As time passes, vomiting occurs once every two to four days. If it progresses to once every five to six days, it is difficult to save. Use Zhi Fuzi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata) 5 qian and Yunling (Poria) 1 liang. Decoct and take twice daily. After three days of treatment, the vomited food will change its odor. After another three days, only half will be vomited. After yet another three days, vomiting will cease. Once vomiting stops, use Liujunzi Tang (Six-Gentleman Decoction - note: text says Liuwang Dihuang Tang but context implies modification for deficiency, however strictly translating text: Liuwang Dihuang Tang / Six-Ingredient Rehmannia Pill base) combined with You Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix processed with oil) and Huomaren (Cannabis Semen), grind into powder, and make pills with refined honey. Take 5 qian every morning and sesame seeds every evening.

This is Kidney Deficiency (Shenxu). Use Shudi (Rehmanniae Radix Preparata) 2 liang, Shanyurou (Corni Fructus) 3 liang, and five bowls of water. Decoct until one bowl remains. Add Rougui (Cinnamomi Cortex) 1 qian, grind into powder, mix in, and take on an empty stomach. One dose per day; recovery is certain within ten days. After recovery, take one or two courses of Liuwang Dihuang Wan (Six-Ingredient Rehmannia Pills) to eradicate the root cause.
