Obtain a vermilion brush from the magistrate's hall, write one "Zheng" (upright) character on the patient's heart, one "Dao" (knife) character on the neck, and two "Huo" (fire) characters on each hand; the illness will be cured immediately. A servant of the Han family in Suzhou encountered evil spirits and was treated with this method. When writing the "Huo" character on the left hand, the person opened his eyes wide and shouted loudly: "Do not burn me, I am leaving now." Since then, strange occurrences ceased. This matter is recorded in the collection *Zi Bu Yu*.

Later, she managed to push the spirit into a urine bucket, where it turned into rotten wood and was burned, thus ending the possession. Initially, he wore fake musk in small quantities without effect; later, he wore over one tael of real musk beside him, and the strange phenomenon ceased.

If tonics, purgatives, cold-natured medicines, and heat-natured medicines are all ineffective, and even Gun Tan Wan (Rolling Phlegm Pill) fails, this indicates latent phlegm in the chest and diaphragm. Use five qian of Chang Shan (Dichroa Root, decocted in wine), three qian of Dang Shen Lu (Codonopsis Root Tip), one qian of Gan Cao (Licorice Root), and five slices of Sheng Jiang (Fresh Ginger).
