Use garlic, mashed into a paste, mixed with half a small cup of cold water. Take a teaspoonful and instill seven spoonfuls into the nostrils; the patient will revive immediately. Juice of Chinese chive (Jiucai) may also be used, which similarly rescues from Zhong'e Zusi (Sudden collapse due to evil qi obstruction).
Drip blood from the comb of a rooster into the mouth and smear it on the face, then blow it into the nostrils; the patient will awaken immediately.
To treat mania and delirium in men and women caused by depression, as well as dizziness and coma due to wind-phlegm, use 7 liang of Curcuma aromatica Rhizome (Yujin) and 3 liang of Alum (Baifan). Grind them together into fine powder, mix with flour to make pills, and take 3 qian with boiling water. The disease is cured when the medicine is finished. In the past, a woman suffered from mania for over ten years. An extraordinary person taught her this prescription. After the first dose, she felt as if a heavy object had been removed from her heart, and her spirit refreshed. After the second dose, she was completely cured.
Bake Bitter Dinger (i.e., Melon Seed / Xiangguadi) on a tile until dry but retain its medicinal properties, then grind into fine powder. Use 2-3 qian per dose, adjusting according to the patient's robustness or weakness...
Another prescription: Use 2 liang of Sichuan Curcuma Rhizome (Chuan Yujin), 5 qian of purified Cinnabar (Feijing Chensha), 1 liang of raw Realgar (Shengming Xionghuang), and 2 male pig hearts (remove the blood in the center). Place the Curcuma and Cinnabar inside the pig hearts, boil thoroughly in aged wine until soft, then mash into a paste. Add finely ground Alum, mix thoroughly, and form pills the size of tung tree seeds. Take 2 qian per dose. Once the course is completed, the disease will never recur.
Additionally, for treating madness where the patient does not recognize people: Grind 1 qian of Hearth Earth (Zaoxintu) into powder and take with boiling water.
Additionally, for treating hidden wind epilepsy with phlegm-saliva causing coma and unresponsiveness: Drink Banana Oil (Bajiao You). Recovery occurs once vomiting takes place. To obtain Banana Oil, insert a bamboo tube into the banana tree trunk to collect the exudate.
Whenever phlegm-saliva surges to the Heart, causing sudden collapse, urgently help the patient sit upright in a warm room. Pour vinegar onto hot charcoal to generate vapor that enters the patient's nostrils; after a while, they will naturally revive. Alternatively, instilling mashed Chinese chive juice into the throat is also effective. Urgently blow powder of Sichuan Bulb Fritillary (Zaojiao) or raw Pinellia Tuber (Sheng Banxia) into the nostrils; sneezing leads to awakening, with excellent effect. If medicines are unavailable in haste, urgently moxa 3-5 cones at the Renzhong acupoint (Renzhong) and at points on both big toes approximately 2 fen away from the nails. Alternatively, prick the Shaoshang acupoint (Shaoshang) and Weizhong acupoint (Weizhong) (see Huoluan section) with broken porcelain shards; the patient will live. This is indeed an excellent emergency rescue method.
When a person suddenly collapses with a cold body and no phlegm, it is called Qi Jue (Qi Syncope), also known as Zhongqi. If the body is warm with phlegm, it is named Fengzhong (Wind Stroke). If it is Qi Jue, simply helping the patient sit upright for a moment allows the Qi to smooth out, leading to revival. Blowing Zaojiao powder into the nose to induce sneezing is also good.
When a person appears dead with faint pulse movement but closed breath, it is named Shi Jue (Corpse Syncope). Insert powder of Acorus Tatarinowii Rhizome (Changpu) into the nostrils, place powder of Cinnamon Twig (Rougui) below, and blow air into both ears using a bamboo tube; the patient will wake up. If it is Fengzhong, refer to the treatment methods in the Fengzhong section of Volume 14.
