Scrape fine powder from the fingernail of the left hand, dip a rush pith (Jiedcao) into it, and apply to the eye one or two times; this is very effective. If the foreign body cannot be removed, grind high-quality ink into a thick paste and apply it to the eye; this is also effective.

This refers to trichiasis (inverted eyelashes) where eyelashes curl inward and prick the eye. Take one fruit of *Strychnos nux-vomica* (Mubiezi), remove the shell, grind into powder, wrap in cotton, and insert into the nostril. For the left eye, plug the right nostril; for the right eye, plug the left nostril. Recovery occurs within one or two nights. Do not pluck the eyelashes; if plucked, they will regrow harder and more curled, causing lifelong trouble.

A woman who had lost her sight dreamed of Guanyin Bodhisattva saying: "Chant the phrase 'Neng fu zai feng huo, pu ming zhao shi jian' (Can subdue disaster winds and fire, universally illuminate the world). Chanting it one hundred times will bring healing." She tried it, and her sight was restored. This was likely because she had been devout in worshipping Guanyin, so divine protection aided her recovery. Later, another person who had lost their sight chanted thousands of times initially without effect. Afterward, with sincere devotion and fasting, after chanting for several days, their sight was also restored.
