Take one duck, pour water into its mouth to make it drink. After a short while, hang the duck upside down to collect its saliva (yan), and administer it to the patient; the foreign body will dissolve.
In an emergency, take the saliva from a goose's mouth and pour it in; the object will go down. This is because goose saliva can digest grain. Duck saliva can also be used.
Another prescription: *Viola yedoensis* (Zihua Diding), chew thoroughly and swallow; it is highly effective.
Another prescription: Eat glutinous rice candy, and the object will also go down. Alternatively, refer to the previously mentioned Fish Gallbladder Drink or Calamus Charcoal prescriptions.
This type of object can easily block the throat tube; if treatment is delayed, it becomes difficult to save the life. In an emergency, take saliva from a cow's mouth, mix with boiling water, and ingest; the object will dissolve. This is a secret transmission from foreign lands.
Old loofah (also known as water melon or thread melon) burned to ash. Take three qian per dose, mixed with wine for administration.
Another prescription: Refer to the Fish Gallbladder Drink prescription for bones stuck in the throat; it is extremely effective.
Another prescription: If wood is stuck in the throat, use water ground from an iron axe blade and pour it in; recovery follows. Or, heat an iron saw red-hot in charcoal fire, quench it in yellow wine (sweet wine is also acceptable), and ingest this liquid. Do not let others see this process.
Another prescription: If bamboo or wood is stuck in the throat, use prepared Calamus Charcoal (preparation method seen in previous prescriptions for bones stuck in the throat), send down with boiling water; recovery follows. Apply Calamus Charcoal externally.
Another prescription: Old fence bamboo, burned to charcoal, mixed with water and ingested; this also works.
Boil dog head to make soup, ingest it, and apply to the top of the head; recovery follows.
Several ground beetles (also known as mole crickets), crushed and applied externally to the swollen area of the throat; the bean stuck inside will naturally come out.
Use several toads, remove their heads, hang them upside down to let blood flow, catch about one cupful in a bowl, and pour into the throat. After some time, the needle will be vomited out along with the substance, having dissolved due to the yeast. Forever forbid eating toads.
Treat according to the prescription for iron needles stuck in the throat mentioned above.
Another prescription: A child accidentally swallowed a fishhook. When pulling the line, the hook had penetrated the throat tube, and within moments the neck swelled to the size of a dou. Later, a Buddhist prayer bead (or large incense bead) was threaded onto the hook line, gradually pushed forward until it reached the throat tube. Gently push the bead inward; the hook detaches and hangs on the bead. Hold the bead string tightly and pull out; safety is restored.
Old wooden comb, burned dry and ground into powder, taken with wine.
Another prescription: Tangled hair, burned to ash, mixed with water to take one qian. The hair ash must be completely burned; if raw hair remains unburned, consuming it harms the human body.
