White cow dung from the mountains (those whitened by wind and rain over a long period) is dried on tiles, ground into powder, mixed with wine, and applied to the affected area. The discharge of toxic fluids leads to recovery.
A person suffered sudden redness and swelling of the big toe of the foot, with excruciating pain. This was caused by accumulated heat in the Spleen Meridian, with toxic pathogens flowing downward. Da Huang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma), Po Xiao (Natrii Sulfas), Shi Gao (Gypsum Fibrosum), and Lou Ren (Trichosanthis Semen) were decocted in water for oral administration. Recovery was achieved through significant purgation.
To treat Hong Kong Foot (tinea pedis characterized by swelling and pain): Mu Gua (Chaenomelis Fructus) in any amount is ground into powder, mixed with a small amount of pine wood shavings and good liquor, then applied to the affected area to reduce swelling and relieve pain.
Another method: Scallion (Cong Bai), Ginger (Sheng Jiang), and Mugwort Leaf (Ai Ye) in equal parts are mashed together, wrapped in cloth, dipped in extremely hot distilled liquor, and frequently rubbed onto the affected area until the pain ceases.
First, wash the affected area with salt tea water, then apply a thick layer of finely powdered Lv Fan (Vitriolum). The dampness stops on the same day, and complete recovery occurs after ten days when the scabs fall off.
Sheep dung is burned to ash, ground into powder, and mixed with sesame oil for topical application. If itching occurs, add a small amount of Ku Fan (Alumen Exsiccatum) and Qing Fen (Calomel). If the wound fails to heal, use Song Xiang (Pini Resina), Ku Fan (Alumen Exsiccatum), and Ji Mu (Cupressi Lignum) burned to ash while retaining their properties, one qian each, ground into powder, and still mixed with sesame oil for application, leading to spontaneous recovery.
The toes first itch then hurt, the toenails turn black, the next day the toes turn black, and the following day the entire dorsum of the foot turns black. If the blackness spreads to the calf muscles, death ensues. Immediate treatment is required at the onset. Use Sheng Huang Qi (Astragali Radix), Dang Gui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix) each 1 liang, Niu Xi (Achyranthis Bidentatae Radix) 6 qian, Jin Cha Shi Hu (Dendrobii Noduli), Tai Dang Shen (Codonopsis Radix) each 1 liang, and Yin Hua (Lonicerae Japonicae Flos) 3 liang. Decoct in water; three doses lead to recovery.
Additionally, for maggots growing in the feet: boil one egg, remove the shell, form it into a cake, and apply it while hot. If itching is severe, this removes the maggots after two or three applications.
Sheng Da Huang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma) is ground with vinegar to make a concentrated juice, which is smeared on the painful area. Recovery occurs after several applications. Hand pain is treated similarly.
Whenever farmyard manure is burned on soil and exposed to the intense heat of the sun, people walking barefoot on this ground absorb the toxic heat qi, inevitably causing swelling and pain in the toe tips, appearing as if ulcerated but not actually so. This is colloquially called Re Fei (Inviting Fat) or Wu Qia Ding (Black Eggplant Carbuncle). Boil duck feathers in water, add Zao Fan (Ferrum Sulfate), and wash the affected area to achieve recovery.
Both feet are red, swollen, and shiny, with heat like fire. Ma Qian Zi (Strychni Semen) is ground with water in a coarse bowl, and the liquid is applied occasionally to stop the pain immediately.
Another method: Apply rust water; it is extremely effective.
